Just trying to get an idea on how serious I should take one's discussion board posts.

I have noticed that many of your lives revolve around a computer screeen, and I doubt that you are on a treadmill while typing (not trying to say that you are out of shape).

Where does everyone's emense hockey knowledge originate from?

Years of playing the game? Years of watching the game, thinking that you have a clue that is going on? Talking to players? Playing mens-league, chasing the dream?

Just trying to equally evaluate all posters

Organized sports: Basketball, Football, Floor Hockey. Since tearing my triad, I can't get play sports anymore. Yoga is my current gig - and it kicks my @ss.

I've been a fan of BG hockey since 87. I will say that I am not a hockey authority nor have I ever claimed to be. I will defer to the folks on this board who have been regulars of Falcon Hockey since the 70's.

My life does revolve around a computer screen. It's how I pay most of my bills.

Given that post and your assessment of Paluch's ability to coach one would surmise that Paluch must never have played the sport since he knows nothing about it. I guess we should remove his NCAA All American plaque from the wall since it's an obvious farce.

Do you have an All American plaque anywhere? Just wondering.

Note: You don't need to know how to type and communicate effectively to answer this question (but it helps).

Your arguments are lame.

Of course we should. He only got it by sleeping around.

pauluch was a great player. i never said that he was not. he deserves all the credit in the world when it comes to his days of playing. however coaching is completely different. he was a great player but he is just a very bad coach. i know it is hard to believe me. i understand if most of you do not. however people that really know and understand hockey can tell he does not have what it takes to be a head coach and bring a championship team to the table. what concerns me most is he continues to hurt players careers. you do not realize it but he does. there have been quite a few players that were held back because pauluch does not know how to handle nor does he care about them. he has major double standards. he is also a liar to his players and he puts on a great show to the public but it is all fake. 2 seasons ago he only helped jordan in talking to the bruins to help him further his career. he did not make any phone calls for brew, christie, minni, rogo or pedota. he did not help them at all. they all had to help themselves and that is the truth and that is not right. everyone of those guys were good players that can easily play at the pro level. ofcourse jordan was on another level but that does not mean you do not help your other guys out. the same happened the year befor that with bieksa and all those guys and the same thing happened this past year as well. it is just not right. the man is an AS$h^&*. he does not deserve to have the privaledge to coach at this level.college is suppose to make you a better player not get worse. this largely comes from the coaches, because all these guys had the talent and the work ethic.

Before we veer off course here, let's take another look at the initial topic.

There was a call for the general population to prove what they know of hockey. Basically "calling people out." The assumption is that if you don't play hockey, you don't know what you're talking about.

BGFan countered with a Scott Paluch (is your spelling intentional?) reference.

Then you answer -in the first person - to BGFan even though you didn't start the thread.

Intersting.

Now let's get back to what everyone doesn't know about hockey.

The funniest thing I see, is that this person is trying so hard to look like two different people, and thus attempts to make one person's grammar seem terrible, and the other's perfect. This is great in theory, but perfect incarnation (Falco) still busts out the word "emense". Poetry in motion, my friend.

The IP addresses are quite different, however.

It's just interesting.

Well, after Grant called him/them out initially on the IP thing, I'm sure he/she/it/they wised up and started posting from different computers. They may have more than one person posting now, but the point is it isn't a random collection of BG fans that all feel the same way.

Confused!!!

Post by tnelly7 »

I was just wondering why some of you guys back up the coaching staff as much as you do? I know that you guys do not believe what is being said, but what have the coaches done for you guys? Have they brought back a title of some sort (the UConn tourney, what an accomplishment)? Have they brought a winning team to the table yet? It is just odd, please let me know where you guys are coming from? :?

one of the quickest highjackings of a thread in recent memory

post your question about what we "oldtimers" feel about coaching staffs in an existing or new thread, and I'll reply

Some of us may not like the coaches or their style a whole lot (not saying I don't like Pooch because I do) but they are still our coaches and we support our programs through thick and thin no matter who is behind the wheel. Someone might not particularly favor a coach or player but I believe that as long as they are wearing orange and brown they deserve our full support. They are out there doing their best to do their jobs so instead of pi$$ing and moaning about it all the time we should all sit our happy @$$es in the stands and do our best to do our jobs.
Yeah right girl!

Time. It takes time to build a successful team. A coach can only change so much in 4 years. Paluch inherited a bottom 1/3 team. It takes time for him to get a team full of his recruits. The team he inherited didn't come to BG to play for him. They came to play for Buddy Powers. Buddy inherited a great team full of Jerry York's recruits. Was there animosity there? Not so much because there wasn't much to change. I was directly invovled in the BG program for 7 years in the mid to late 90's (Buddy's first 7 years). I watched the BG program slowly slip away first hand. Was there any one thing that happened to cause the downfall? No. It was a slow degradation of multiple things. Team chemistry, recruiting, lack of discipline, lack of motivation, etc....It was a long, slow process that just happened. Buddy is a hell of a guy and I challenge anybody to find a greater professor of the game.

The coaches have done nothing for me personally.

Why do I support the coaches?

Very simple: I have yet to see or hear anything that makes me feel the need to not support them.

Oh yeah, I have read these threads and other than seeing coaches beeing called obscene names by a few individuals, well....I quit reading the posts. So if they have anything of importance to say, I haven't read it because I quit reading their rants when they decided to act childish and immature.

Now, when they can post in a rational manner (not saying that they have to post something I agree with, just cut out the name calling and obscenities) and can actually post something I can read (and not to have to try and decipher because it looks like it was written by a 7th grader - freddiethefalconbg needs to see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalization), then I'll be glad to consider their information and use it to make a decision as to my support of the coaches.

But until I can see that, the coaches and the Athletic Director continue to have my unwavering support.
