Tudor played two years in the USHL so he has the pedigree to be a division 1 player. I am not sure if grades or whatnot prevented him from being heavily recruited. I also am fairly certain he is 'local' so he 'ended up' at BG and found his way on to the Storm roster.

My brother is the goalie coach on the club team and said that Tudor was by far the best player on the club team and should've been on the varsity club, but Paluch didn't want anyone non-schollie. I guess the Storm scouted him during their game vs. Toledo a couple weeks back and liked what they saw, and off he went.

As a funny tidbit, my brother went to his first game with Toledo and he took two penalties in the first period. My brother was able to get into the Storm locker room (with other coaches) and ribbed him a little bit about it.

Just playing in the USHL isn't enough to be a Division 1 player.

True, but the picture that was painted was that he was 'just' a member of the club team and somehow worked his way into a pro situation. The USHL is fairly well respect and the highest level of amatuer hockey in the United States.

With some further inquiry I found that he was to be a 'preferred walkon' with the Falcons varsity program but it never shook out for him.

The USHL is superior to all other amatuer leagues in the US and Canada. Obviously the OHL, QMJHL, and WHL players are not granted NCAA elegibility. But for lower end CCHA teams like ourselves it is huge to get anyone from the USHL that has contributed nightly in that league. The WCHA takes most of the top talent which leaves us to go searching on the internet in the canadian leagues such as the AJHL, MJHL etc. Here we find players in recent years such as Barnett, Pappas, Boyd etc who have 18 pts or so in a 70 game season in juniors and then we are baffled when they get 2 goals a season here.

Roger Leonard played 3 years on the varsity team, until he was kicked off the team following the Lake Superior trip. He was one of the top players on the team at the time. This was an absolutly rediculous move by Pooch. Roger's style of play was perfect for the CCHA. High energy, strong, fast, and talented. A minor post game disagreement up at Lake State, and he got dismissed. Roger made a good decision, and chose to finish school. He played club during his senior year at BG.

Roger played one year with the Louisiana IceGators, of the ECHL. He notched 8 goals, and 19 assists in 61 games.

Tudor was on the varsity team for 2 years. He chose to leave the team, and joined the club team. Tudor was playing for the Findlay Freedom (part of a new league), and then he got called up to the Storm - see link below.
