NHL All-Star Game?

Post by BGDrew »

Anybody watch? Definitely wasn't a game for the defensive minded. I thought the coolest thing I've seen in a long time were the players mic'd up. Marty Turco was absolutely hilarious as he was playing the puck while talking to the announcers.

As a big hockey fan, I personally hate the game. Every year it gets progressively worse in terms of flow and intensity. It's great that the players put on a showcase for the fans, but it gets boring after the first period. I've always maintained that the NHL should focus it's efforts on promoting the Olympics as the true showcase of hockey. Bigger ice surface, world class players playing for country pride, and great intensity and flow. But then again, that's why I'm not running the league which has in many ways abandoned their fans and only care about the bottom line now.

I actually enjoyed watching Ryan Miller getting lit up in the one-on-one skills competition the night before :-D

The game in enjoyable as long as you watch it for the right reasons. Don't expect an actual game. It's an exhibition game. It's a chance for some of the best players to have some fun. Basically it is a pick up game in front of a lot of people. It's as much for the players as it is for the fans. A chance to take a break and just have some fun, not really care who wins or loses, the way all sports should be.

Miller is 24-8 this season, how's that for skill. I get defensive about the Sabres.

I enjoyed Briere in game 7 of the ECF last year.

(Actually, that dude's skill scare the bejeezus out of me, but his face and accent make me want to crosscheck him.)

If you think he's scary in real life, check him out in the NHL 07 game.

I actually really enjoyed the game. I'm not a hardcore fan of it (mostly because people from teams I despise are playing on my team), but I do enjoy watching the way different people work together. I think my favorite part was Marty Turco getting hooked up to the mic for the third period. You could hear the "OOF!" as he caught the puck :) I felt bad because Zetterberg couldn't be there because he was injured.

I remember when he played for MSU...I've always thought he was overrated. The team in front of him is what makes him good. I said it then, I'll say it now.
