Tommy Dee Article
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Exciting development under Pooch
"This season, he has two goals and two assists in 21 games, along with a respectable on-ice rating of minus-2."
We sure clutch at straws, this is a forward for goodness sake, the equipment manager could get 2 goals in 21 games.
On-ice rating of -2 is respectable! No wonder we are losers, It's like Pooch emphasising that "We are as good as ND, the only difference is that they are 1st and we are 12th"
Using the same logic the players listed as -24 and -22 must be super stars.

I don't think Tommy should be getting the criticism; the author of the article Kevin Gordon of the Sentinel-Tribune is the one with no understanding of the game.
He may think an on-ice minus is good, like golf, a minus (under par) is good.

Re: Tommy Dee
The Sentinel usually tries to do a feature article on one player a week. Usually they choose the player that is playing the best at that time. You read about how great the player is playing (point streaks and such) and then he'll usually go into a slump for few weeks. It's called the Sentinel Jinx. This year, there isn't a of positives to write about. I actually thought the article was one of the better ones I have read lately.FalconBlue wrote:I don't think Tommy should be getting the criticism; the author of the article Kevin Gordon of the Sentinel-Tribune is the one with no understanding of the game.

Re: Tommy Dee
As much as I hate the idea of defending Kevin Gordon, you guys are a little off-base here. At -1, Dee has one of the best plus-minus numbers on the team Of course I think that's in a lot less ice time as well.FalconBlue wrote:I don't think Tommy should be getting the criticism; the author of the article Kevin Gordon of the Sentinel-Tribune is the one with no understanding of the game.

Sportswriters are expected to come up with stories from the particular beat they cover even when the team stinks. Dee is probably one of the less offensive choices. Who would you have him write about? According to the latest stat sheet on the BGSU site: Matsumoto (-14), Whitmore (-16), Maxwell (-17), Kantola (-22) or Nesdill (-24). Tasty picks all.
