Many people consider the USHL the elite league to recruit from for college hockey. One of the leading scorers in that league is Jacob Cepis whose listed at all of 5'7" - 150 lbs. In fact, he's been leading the league in scoring all season long going up against players that have 70+ lbs and 5+ inches on him. So, tell me, what does size have to do anything? Oh, and he's coming to BG next year. Should we reject him because he's too small?

Greg Parks was all of 5'9" - 165 lbs and had a rather long professional career after he left Bowling Green. Again, according to your comments, he had no business playing here, let alone in the NHL. What gives?

Go back and do your research.

Our problems lie elsewhere....

BGfan, if you look at my comments im refering to the guys we scratch and guys on our 3rd and 4th lines etc. this is were we drop off considerably. Cepis is a great find for BG but unfortunatley I doubt his success in juniors will transalate to a tougher college game. I suppose next year he will be a third line guy that will see plenty off PP and PK time.

I find this statement hilarious since for the most part the 3rd and 4th lines were the only ones who were able to keep the puck even close to the offensive end. Hello, every see the PP?? Those were not 3rd and 4th line guys...although after their hideous performace on PP and offensively and defensively they should have been! Sorry if that offends anyone but....as far as Cepis goes he's signed I will reserve judgement until I see him play, maybe you should too.

ahh blueliners_bg good thing i checked the forum one more time before bed.

Here is something you might find hilarious about the guys you said were the only ones to be able to get the puck near the offensive end. They may have had some nice dump ins if thats what you were referring too.

Here are our 3rd and 4th line forwards GP and total Pts. If we got all these pts on the same night we might win a hockey game 6-5 in OT

Perkin 27 gp 5pts
Dee 29 gp 4pts
Erickson 28 gp 2pts
Boyd 12 gp 1pts
Geelan 28 gp 1pts
Bronson 32gp 0pts

And my point is that....everyone had a job to do, and the 3rd and 4th lines did theirs THEY GOT THE PUCK TO THE OFFENSIVE ZONE. And it didn't take them 2:00 minutes to get there. Can you say the same thing for the PP lines("The 1st and 2nd lines")? If you could then we would have averaged more than 1 goal per game.

14 Kai Kantola 36 5 6 11 61 .082 -27
26 Mike Nesdill 37 1 10 11 49 .020 -24
12 Tim Maxwell 38 0 11 11 59 .000 -21
21 Derek Whitmore 38 19 10 29 124 .153 -16
11 Jonathan Matsumoto 38 11 22 33 127 .087 -13

Those are some pretty impressive shot percentages and they played on the power play??? And those +/- numbers as equally UN-impressive!

I think that this has been said before to you, not everyone on a hockey team is a scorer, but I bet give the same chance as this years power play lines I bet the 3rd and 4th lines would have done equally if not better. BUT, since "no one" every tried anything different we will never know.

to further backup Blue_linerBG's point. It is hard to get points with no powerplay time and 5 minutes of ice time a game. Even Moto would have trouble getting to double digits with that type of opportunity.

Bigdog I fully agree with your statement that w/o any PP time points are somewhat hard to come by. But look at some of these guys, Bronson and Geelan combining for 60 games with 1 point. Im sure if you look at teams like minnesota, mich etc there 4th line guys have much more production. It would be hard for a standout HS player to play 32 college games without any pp time and not get at least 1 pt

I guess the point im trying to make is when you look at the numbers this is one crappy hockey team

The fact the extension was never announced is disturbing. I thought Paluch was on the last year of his contract. I don't like the way this whole thing is unfolding. :x

I do agree the stats aren't great to say the least. Geelan should be a 10-15 point person per year. I think there is a lack of enthusiasm out there right now, in fact I know there is.
It is going to be even worse now becuase I know the only thing keeping the team positive was that Paulch would be gone at the end of this year but now there are 3 more to go.

It is odd, in fact, that JD Campbell didn't even know. I guess they are under no legal obligation to announce it, but I don't know what you gain by keeping it a secret.

I like Pooch. I hope he turns it around.

DannyK: It's tough to score when ice time is 30 seconds at a time. The third and fourth lines would get the puck in the offensive zone and then they are off the ice.

The talent is at BG. the coach has no clue how to use the talent. He must not have anywhere else to go. I'm sure he knows the feelings about his program. A coach without a home. Who would want the worst coach in hockey?

It seems all the players leaving would give the AD a clue. It's amazing the seniors were not given a send off this year. The coach should have celebrated the fact that he had two seniors that will or has already graduated.

If the AD wants to raise private money, he better make some positive moves.

Solution: Everyone boycott buying hockey games tickets. The AD would
not like less revenue than he is already receiving.

You have no clue what you're talking about. The hockey banquet is the traditional senior send off and will be on March 31st.

Boycotting buying hockey tickets will only convince those who make the decisions that hockey is no longer a viable sport at BG. Meaning varsity hockey will be no more. Yeah.....that'll teach 'em.

No....you did enough of that yourselves.

Don't get me wrong.....I'm not saying that you weren't right, I'm saying that your methods made you look exactly as many people in the program were painting you, making you doubly hard to take seriously.

try playing 4 years under that subpar at best coach and then see how reasonable you are when leaving. Being a fan of BG hockey I can understand how fustrating it is when they lose every game. But the fact of the matter is that that fustration will never come close to the feelings felt by the players who have to endure his stupidity all day everyday.
On another note hope the seniors get to do senior speeches this year. Just another tradition Paulch is ruining.
