Is G.C giving the falcon hockey boosters a green light?
just read the "ASK THE AD" and read this from the 23rd
Q: There has been much speculation going around concerning the future of the hockey program. Can you set the record straight? Also, there has been a lot of speculation concerning the state of the hockey facilities. Can you shed any light on what the future holds for the ice arena?

Falcon Hockey has a rich tradition and BGSU is fully committed to the sport.
That said, progress is needed to restore the program's stature. Scott Paluch and our team are working to move things in the right direction. While last season was disappointing, the team's performance down the stretch was promising.
Two issues are critical to our future: a facility and operating resources. The venerable BGSU Ice Arena is outdated in several respects and needs a lot of work just to stay operational in the near future. We are narrowing the "facility fix" options for both hockey and basketball/volleyball right now and expect to determine a path this year.
Along with a facility deficiency, we need to improve hockey's operating budget. It's a challenge to compete for championships when resources for recruiting, travel and other support are at or near the bottom of the CCHA. We are working from the department/university angle to improve resources, but we also need the help of fans. Whether it's buying a couple of season tickets or joining the Falcon Club, there are a number of ways to back BGSU Hockey.
ask me and I ll say he reads the web site and his just given the green light to a hockey booster Org.
any interest?

But yet, it is absolutely necessary to pump a million dollars into FieldTurfMACMAN wrote: Along with a facility deficiency, we need to improve hockey's operating budget. Sorry, I haven't seen any committment by Greg Christopher to the BGSU Hockey program since he was hired.

I think he's aware of the importance of hockey at BG and the importance of supporting the program. Until he comes out and says "Eh, we can make do in this barn", I'll believe that he's got a plan. He's only been around a year, ya know.

Any decision on the Ice Arena will be made once the Athletics Facility Master Plan has been released later in the year. Period.pdt1081 wrote:But yet, it is absolutely necessary to pump a million dollars into FieldTurf![]()

Actions speak louder than words, period. And right now, the only actions I'm seeing are Football, football, football. Yes, he's only been here for one year. But other than the standard "we're committed to hockey" there has been nothing said or done to show it. Until I see something concrete, I don't really believe there is a committment there.TG1996 wrote:Seriously! I think what you actually meant to say was: "And right now, the only actions I'm seeing are football, tennis, track and field, and football."pdt1081 wrote: Actions speak louder than words, period. And right now, the only actions I'm seeing are Football, football, football.
By your logic, I'm afraid we are going to drop men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball, too. We haven't seen any action on any of their facilities in the last year, either.
