Home Ice For CCHA Tourney

Post by Strouse »

I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned yet, but the hockey team has qualified for Home Ice during the tournament!! We will be hosting games on March 7th, 8th, and if needed, the 9th. Here's the link http://ccha.cstv.com/sports/m-hockey/sp ... 08aad.html where I saw it posted at.

Figures. Our first home playoff series since I've been here, and it takes place over Spring Break. :x

If they don't open up the dormitories early, I don't know what I'm gonna do!

They won't open the res halls early unless you have special circumstances and you pay the extra money. I plan on coming back Friday and staying with a friend in her apartment. I'm lucky I can go back to the res halls Saturday night since I'm an RA, but it sucks for everyone that can't get back!

This is the third time since 1993 BG has clinched home ice. I hope this becomes a trend.

I agree about the trend. The last time we made it of our building was 87-88-----good things happened----anyone remember? Paluch was captain.
First things first keep ---winning games ,home ice then who knows what -else :D

I was at the Joe that year and I believe it was Lake Superior (with cheerleaders in the aisles) that we beat. I remember the all tournament team members getting a set of golf clubs. But it was so long ago I the memory is fuzzy and the time to return to the Joe has come.

Ahhh...Memories

Post by TheKa »

I remember the 87-88 CCHA championship VERY well...and outside of the NCAA championship probably one of my favorite hockey memories. So much so, that I have the game taped from PASS sports and I admit watch it often...especially in these past few years. I'm going to be making a DVD of the game, so I have a back-up when the tape finally wears out! :)

The game was marked by PC (Paul Connell-BGSU Goalie-for those of you who were not there) taking a puck directly in the throat and coming back to help the team win! The final score was 5-3. There are lots of good shots of CRAZY Frank Anzalone. Also, there are many pictures of my little 12 year old self holding up a CHOKE sign for LSSU goalie Bruce Hoffert. A very young Mac Truck, Perrick "Frenchy" Maia, Chad Arthur..and many more! Ahh...Those were the days.

If you make a DVD of it, I'd love a copy! I was there and remember that game very well!!! We screamed our freakin' heads off when we won that championship!!!! And I also remember Connell taking that puck to the neck!! It was horrible to watch and amazing to see him return to the game!!! We also felt that since every player from the National Championship team was gone (graduated or went pro), we had finally gotten the "monkey" off our backs and won a championship at the Joe!!! Beating Michigan State in the semi was almost better than winning the championship game against LSSU. We had lost to them in OT in the championship game the year before and HATED thme with every fiber of our being...THAT was a REAL rivalry!!! Those two games were the MOST fun I've ever had at the Joe!!!!

GO FALCONS!!
SWEEEEEEEEEP THE BULLDOGS!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
