BG News Articles
Hey Falcon hockey fans! I'm the BG News writer for the hockey team and just wanted to get some feedback from the fans that may read my articles. I've never really had a good honest feedback from people other than family or friends and just wanted to know if im including interesting points in my previews of the weekends on Fridays or Thursdays on occasion?
Be happy to comment on hockey articles, but first, the new BG News format....no sports tab? I had to search the archives for hockey articles.
If your initials are W.C., don't say that no BG hockey fans know where Schenectady is; we were there for the games.

All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

I, for one, think you do a great job, and I have a lot of respect for the fact that you are seeking your readers' opinions. Writing about college hockey can be difficult, I know, because it doesn't get the kind of detailed coverage that basketball (men's and women's) and football get. Still, I think that you have managed to keep up pretty well.
The only thing that I would reccomend you cover a bit more is the history of BG hockey. You are primarily writing for students, most of whom probably don't know that we ever won a national championship. All they know is losing. They know Ohio State coming to the Ice Arena and beating the crap out of us. They know a new coach and a young team.
As difficult as it may be, if you can find a way to feature our hockey heritage in your writing, and frame the current season as the rebuilding of that tradition, it would go a long way in engaging your readers and getting the average student interested in Falcon hockey again.
But, that is just a suggestion and is in no way meant to say that your writing has failed in any way! I love opening the paper late in the week and reading your previews, and I hope you keep up the good work!

I have no complaints! Your stories are a heck of a lot longer than most I get to work with and are always on time! Makes it a lot easier for me to design the pages

THUMBS UP!!!
Excellent idea!!! Newsguy: You need to interview a few older...er..I mean veteran hockey fans and find out what it used to be like here in the rink. Actually, just interview Buddy Powers and Scott Paluch!! They will tell you! Scott has my OLD tape of a Falcon Sports show called Time Out, that shows very clearly what it used to be like in this rink! Have him show it to you!! Heck, give me a call, PM me, and I'll be happy to give you some info!!! I could also point you to a LOT of other people who can tell you a LOT of neat stuff!! (Former Fred's and Frieda's, Former Section A people, etc...) It would be awesome to do an article on the traditions of the Falcon Hockey Program!!!! We used to be the hottest ticket in town and we will be again!!!! OF THIS, I HAVE NO DOUBT!!Bleeding Orange wrote:The only thing that I would reccomend you cover a bit more is the history of BG hockey. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
