Looking for a BG jersey, would love some help!

Post by bieksafan »

Hello everyone,

a year and a bit ago I stumbled on this site in search of a BG jersey to customize with my favourite NHL'er Kevin Bieksa on the back. I was overwhelmed by the help and support and managed to purchase a jersey off of BGDrew (not sure if he is still around, anyway I really appreciated his help especially).

Here is the jersey:

Anyway,

I am looking for any BG Falcons Hockey Jerseys from any of these years:

2000-2001
2001-2002
2002-2003
2003-2004

Preferably authentic, but I am not picky. It has been impossible to find any BG jerseys elsewhere, be it ebay or jersey stores. I am in Canada so that probably doesn't help...

Anyways I would genuinely appreciate any help I can get from you guys and gals.

Go Falcons!

Sincerely,

Bieksafan

They haven't booted me yet!

If I'm not mistaken, we used that same jersey style you got from 2002-2004. It's kind of late now, but let me flip through the media guide tomorrow night and I'll see what I can dig up about those other years, or maybe someone who's been around the program longer can give some insight?

Sometimes Scooter the equipment manager in the ice arena sells the jerseys at the end of the season and the money goes to the hockey foundation account. I bought Ben Geelan's 2007-2008 home jersey from Scooter for $75. Also, the guy who announces the games at the ice arena, I think his name is Jim, his wife Cookie, who sits in Section C and is at every home game, she is always wearing different BGSU authentic hockey jerseys all in great condition. She's a neat lady and I'm sure would tell you where she got them.

BTW, I'd love to find a #11 Matsumoto jersey and would pay anything for it.

For a while, Scooter sold all the unclaimed jerseys to a person who sells on ebay.

This is Jim, the PA guy for the Falcons! Thanks for the kind words Derm! Yes, my wife and I have somewhat of a collection of Falcon sweaters and Hockey sweaters in general. Most of the BG stuff I have acquired from other collectors. I've actually gotten two from a guy in Hawaii, believe it or not! Anybody who's interested, PM me, and I can give you some websites for collectors where you might be able to find some stuff. And as always, you want to talk to Scooter too. Here's my collection:

Jim, good to hear from you. Are the jerseys on this site for sale or are they just your collection? They are awesome. Have definitely seen Cookie wearing the Schmidt #10 and the Erikson #17 on many occasions.

Derm, those are my collection. The latest one was Jonathan Sigalet's #56 BG sweater. I got that from the guy in Hawaii. Any Sigalet BG sweater is VERY hard to come by.

Jim, if I want to start getting some of those jerseys, where is a good place to start, besides Scooter?

Derm, a good place is gameworn.net, this is a really good collectors site. Plus, every once in awhile, one will pop up on Ebay.

those are some nice jerseys...

Well if anyone comes across a BG jersey from those four years, please let me know! I really would love one, especially those orange ones with the cool logo. I want to get another Bieksa BG jersey to add to the collection!

Thanks!

Quite the opposite. We all (mostly) loved the logo on that jersey. It was the school's logo for 30ish years before being replaced a few years ago. It's near and dear to the hearts of many alumni.

That said, "peek-a-boo" has grown on me a bit, and I think it makes a fantastic logo for the chest of our new sweaters.

I liked the old logo, I like the new logo. The thing I could never understand is why the jerseys right before the current ones were orange and BLACK. Did we pick up some old Findlay jerseys at a discount?

When they switched to the new ones I picked up a road jersey the first time I was in BG. I love the design of the new orange ones (but the giant logo makes it a little awkward to wear in the stands). I'll always have a soft spot for the Brown road jerseys of the late 80s.
