With the discussion of the possible demise of the Falcon hockey program and the finger pointing at the administration, please do not leave out questioning the CCHA. Ask yourself, what has the CCHA done to help itself? The league has done a very poor job in promoting itself, case in point, television coverage. With the proliferation of regional sports networks, does the CCHA appear regularly on any? No. I look to Hockey East and WHA. I see more television coverage of those leagues than the CCHA. If the league got off its duff and tried to secure some television cover, the would be an influx of money to the member schools. With television, schools would benefit in many ways, such as dasher board sponsorship increasing, for example. The league has Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame. I do believe there would be a fan base from those schools alone that would warrant a television contract.
There is no excuse for the CCHA for not taking blame for this situation. The "we tried" excuse is moot when I see other sports and schools on television. The CCHA has stood pat too long and needs to step up and assume some responsibility when rumors with some truth to them are flying about one of its member institutions.
CCHA
Actually there has been a lot of TV coverage this year. Particularly in the second half. BCSN has been in the arena several times and games have been on the NHL network, etc. We just don't see many because BCSN is owned by Buckeye Cable, although there have been a few re-broadcasts on other cable channels. Whether this is due to CCHA involvement, I don't know, but there have been more games broadcast this year from the ice arena than I can remember from previous seasons.
BCSN coverage has nothing to do with the CCHA. They cover the games for free.BGFan wrote:Actually there has been a lot of TV coverage this year. Particularly in the second half. I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.

Re: CCHA
The CCHA has some of the most coverage of all the hockey conferences!! CCHA games of the week air on FSN Detroit, Comcast Sports New in Northern Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and the Chicago area. And Those games also air in the US and Canada on the NHL Network, plus CBS College Sport and ESPU usally have a game or two (although ESPNU seems to air HE, AH, and ECAC Hockey more.) The Big Ten Network has some games with the big 10 schools.BGorDeath wrote:With the discussion of the possible demise of the Falcon hockey program and the finger pointing at the administration, please do not leave out questioning the CCHA. It's FSN Ohio that should get in on the broadcasts since 3 CCHA schools are in Ohio!
