Lost a recruit

Post by rood »

I just got an email from Chris Heisenberg who runs the bible of hockey recruiting blogs. He says that defenseman Mike Miller is no longer a BG recruit. Heisenberg didn't say if it was Miller's choice or the school's.

Do you have a link to his blog? The link I had doesn't work anymore. Not sure if it was his or someone else's.

He doesn't put commentary up on the blog anymore, just a running list of current recruits.

Here's the link:

his blog is awesomely up to date, I have followed it for a long time.
If he is not going to Major JR's he will likely pop up in a few weeks with where he opted to go....you hate lose guys, but Id rather lose them before they come than after, esp if they think they will fit in better els where.

Miller is already 18 and a half and is still playing junior A so I doubt he would be going to major juniors. I asked Heisenberg if he knew if Miller changed his mind or if BG took back its offer. He said he didn't know but assumed it was BG's idea based on Miller's lack of production. Miller did miss most of last season with some injury and with his size I would think if he was still considered a top prospect he'd playing in the NAHL at least, if not the USHL.

The fact we have 5 good sized freshman defensemen this season and a couple more committed for the next two years might have played a part in his decision.

That said, I wish him all the luck with whatever the future holds for him.

Boy if that's true, it looks like we might be in better hands. For the longest time it seemed like we simply didn't have the big, physical defensemen that teams like Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame do. It really hurt us on nights where our goaltending wasn't top notch.

Page is currently our smallest d-man at 5'10" 190 lbs. All 5 freshman are taller or heavier than that and in most cases, both.

We were fortunate to have very good recruiters in the past, and from what I know we still do.
