Post by ktrain »

Ok so MIAMI of OH is clearly taking our recruits and has been consistently great for the past few years...do we need a new arena...a clean slate for recruits? I hate having to see a team that used to be a powerhouse in college hockey and a household name become an unknown again. Thoughts?

I was going to type a response, but then it occurred to me that you could randomly click on a thread written at anytime during the past five years.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

first the second post is right much information around.
Second Miami is not taking our recruits, hockey is not like football, we are competing withe whole of D1 hockey for the same people more or less.
thrid with what is going on, and planed renovation of our facility, and the scholarship endowment plan we have the foundation to again return to our rightful place in the top of the CCHA.
Its not going to happen over night...we are on the right track, be patient, and stay postive, be proud of what we have, they are comited to playing and are doing very well and growing.

Seriously....have you been paying attention...at all? #-o We are not getting a new arena; we are renovating the current/original one. That is what half of the "Bring Back The Glory" fundraising is all about. The other half is the endowments that will sustain the program for the future. These two things, plus a young, energetic and hard working coach who has his team buying into his system and you will, eventually, have a powerhouse in college hockey. It's not going to happen overnight, as it has taken a long time to get in the sorry shape we were in at the end of last season, but it won't take THAT long to get us back to where we are a nationally competitive program again. We are headed in the right direction each and every week. Progress is being made.

Where did you get the idea that Miami was taking our recruits? If you are talking about Patrick Tielsing, HE chose to leave the program. It was his choice to leave and that is fine with me. I certainly couldn't blame anyone for wondering if they should stay or go with everything that was going on last spring. And with that said, I applaude the players who stayed and the recruits who didn't de-committ to us!! Talking with a few of the freshman parents this weekend, I know that their sons are VERY happy here and love playing for this coaching staff! (...*stepping down of my soap box now*.... )
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
