To address a few things from the thread:

My feeling about the players having issues skating is that it's a two-fold issue-

First, in terms of the quality of the ice, I recall there being some discussion about the ice quality during opening weekend for the Walleye. I'd think they'd have those issues taken care of by now, but who knows.

Also, taking down the Weasels at their place must have taken some of the energy out of them, and the bigger ice surface couldn't have helped either. They really just looked tired in that game.

I think it's going to be a while before the guys can put together a complete series. Granted, I haven't seen a whole lot of the team this year, but it seems to me they're learning to go out there and give absolutely everything every game. They're skating and fighting and trying harder this year, it seems, and I think it's going to take a while to build the endurance to pull that off for a whole series.

The ice at LCA looked frosted. They dumped a ton of water on the ice. The ice at the Ice Arena usually doesn't get that frosted look but they also don't put down much water.

Yost has the same size ice as the Ice Arena and LCA, 200' x 85.' The guys haven't skated on "big" ice since the MSU-Mankato series.

Really? It looked a lot bigger, but I'll take your word for it because I really wouldn't know. The ice surface at LCA just felt a lot bigger the times I was out there. But I guess a larger building to go with it could be the difference.

I was wondering the same thing! If memory serves didn't they play it when one of our guys was going to the box?

About the ice at the LCA, I was talking to Tristin Lewelleyn for Michigan when he was in the penalty box and he said the ice was not good at all. Said it was very "choppy". Sunday night at "Skate with the Falcons", I was talking with Kyle Page, and Kyle said the ice was "weird". I guess they have some work to do at LCA as far as the ice surface goes. I'm sure everybody else noticed the puck bouncing all night long.

Either way, both teams had to play with the same conditions. One team was able to adapt. The other, apparently not. We can't blame the LCA for our play. (And I know we aren't, I'm just saying).

Couple things...I can tell you first hand that the pucks were frozen - in fact, probably more than other games. Further, the ice was bad...don't know why (I don't know what makes good ice and not), but I had many complaints about it...

Gordie Hull once played an exhibition game in Houston. After the game, a lady commented to him, "Mr. Hull, those pucks sure were bouncing a lot. Did they put too much air in them?"

I see one of the many draft picks on the Michigan team decided to leave and play Junior.

Gordie Hull? Really, Bill?

Not only did Czarnik leave the team but their incoming goalie from the NTDP, Jack Campbell, is backing out of his verbal commitment and is going to juniors instead.

Keep in mind that LCA is not a hockey arena - it is an arena where hockey happens to be one of the many of uses. The ice is not covered up like other places either - it is removed.

I understand that the ice kept a tad colder. Making it harder and more likley to chip. I have not skated on it. But was told by a goalie he has gone to a much sharper hollow for it. I just hope we never play there again

It was definitely covered rather than removed during the TSO concert.
