^^Yep, what Drew said. Both sets of fans should be ashamed of themselves. I'm the first to admit... I hate Miami, with a passion. I grew up near the school, the majority of people in my graduating class went there... lots of history. Most of it bad history. The give and take between fans of opposing teams. Some of its warranted, and to a point, part of the game. However, there were some pretty disgusting things said by both sides, and at points, involving kids who were under the age of 5. Pretty awful. I won't get into the details, but I was standing right between the two groups for most of the third.

As for the game itself... I can't say much that already hasn't been said. Miami really wasn't playing all that dirty, honestly. We were just that much outmatched, which led to a ton of penalties, and then both sides got chippy. The line brawl was, while fun to watch, more embarrassing for Miami than anything else. When their goalie left the crease, it got even more out of hand. I have some pretty good pictures (being uploaded now).

And Enrico Blasi and Willy were getting into it a little bit in the third there, and then Blasi got kicked out. He was pretty classless with the bow, but it fit the game. Oh well, the only positive I saw from the game was that Greer got to play. Go Phil!

Ridiculous... I don't care how bad the officiating is, have some dignity and respect. Sure, the officials were all around horrific tonight, but Miami's coach had no excuse for mockingly applauding and bowing to the officials. Absolutely disgusting... and to top it all off waving to the crowd? What a classless human being...

2nd! Grew up 30 minutes from Miami and most of my graduating class went there too... Most of them honestly believe they are better than everyone else, in every respect...

Can anyone explain to me why we got a 5 minute major late in the third? From my point of view it looked like a legal hit, maybe a trip if you wanted to stretch it. Even then it should have only been 2 minutes.

BGDrew wrote:Both groups of fans left a lot to be desired. I heard reports of fans fights, fans chirping with media members, and noticed more than a handful of BG fans getting in the face of Miami fans and vice-versa.

As far as Blasi getting tossed it was pretty classless bowing to the official going off the ice. Short of that I have no idea what was said but it was said that he and Kevin Hall have had words before.

Regarding the line brawl towards the end of two from my vantage point Grover went in hard to follow his shot, lost an edge, and barreled into Knapp. I don't blame Miami at all for protecting their goalie but the cheap shot Grover took when he first tried to get into the penalty box should warrant at least a 2 game suspension. Add in Knapp leaving his crease to get involved and you should have a couple more games. But, BG's players weren't exactly saints throughout this game either.
Amazing that Hall would actually talk to Blasi, since he wouldn't give Williams the time of day. As for the fight, absolutely inexcusable for BG to end up with an extra 7 minutes of penalty time out of it. Grover followed the shot and didn't even hit the goalie. He very well could have barreled him if he had wanted to. With the goaltender leaving his crease to get involved, well after the initial play was over, it just doesn't add up.

If we need to play like Miami did tonight to be the #1 team, I'd rather we stay where we are. Complete lack of sportsmanship. If we were to start playing like they were I would be ashamed. Seems to me the #1 rating has went to their heads. All the diving, extra shoves, hits to the head. It's disgusting.

Hall needs to be out of hockey. That's all there is to it. He never looks like he's enjoying what he's doing. Always getting pissed off at the players. No consistency in the calls he makes. Just give it up...

Well, before the next faceoff, the linesman skated over to the Ref and asked him that same question.

I assume you guys are talking about Ruel's kneeing major? If so, it was a valid and good call. Plays like that can be extremely dangerous (for both players).

Then you missed the play, it seems. Grover definitely hit the goalie, lol. He lost the edge, but he still hit the goalie. Hard.

Yeah I saw that and was actually hoping they'd change the time. Terrible... That whole game should be reviewed and those officials suspended or something.

I was back and to the left of the net. Definitely did not hit him hard. He more went around him and only caught him with his arm. If he had hit him square with that much speed, I doubt he would have gotten up.

Was it Ruel? I saw 28 on the penalty board.

So, wait, he didn't hit the goalie but he did hit the goalie? He hit him pretty good... enough to warrant some retaliation. They were just protecting their goalie, but it still got out of hand.

Well, what I don't understand about the 7 minute powerplay was the fact that Perkin got 5 for fighting, but if he was fighting, didn't he need to have a person to fight? Didn't understand exactly why Miami didn't have an extra person serving a fighting major as well, but more importantly, since when does a fighting major result in a powerplay?

In response to the Kneeing call: It was a penalty, but I don't think it was worth a major. Just an ugly game, glad it's done, and looking forward to moving on from this weekend.

I thought it was Ruel but maybe it was Shea.

And fish, we were wondering the same thing about the fighting major/powerplay deal too.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree. We sit right against the ice and we could see how the Miami players were holding our guys down on the ice. Numerous times our guys would try to get up and the Miami players wouldn't let them. Maybe you had a different perspective from where you were sitting but that's not the game that I watched.

I kept wondering the same thing. If this is supposed to be the elite hockey team in the nation why did they resort to all the crap? I know there is bad blood between these two teams but much of the chippy play was uncalled for.
