Congrats Coach York!!

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Congratulations on winning your FOURTH National Championship!! You made BG fans proud!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Cam Atkinson is a nice player, just goes to show you dont need 20+ year old USHL or other JR players to assembly winning teams. Fast tough smart young players work out very well.

My congratulations as well. I love the BC style of hockey! My money would have been on the Badgers ... big and fast, vs. BC ... small and fast. Great puck handling, defensive play and a lot of heart make up for the size. What's really amazing is that Jerry has won 3 national titles at BC ... and been to the Frozen Four six additional times. Wow, that's post-season dominance.

What were coach York's reasons for leaving BG? Was he fired? Did his contract expire and was not renewed? Or was he offered the BC job while his BG contract was still intact?

He was fired for being too successful. A young Greg Christopher saw how much he won and wanted to go a different direction.

</sarcasm>

He was offered the BC job and no one in the world could really blame him for taking it.

Yes congrats to Coach York and BC! Proud to say he was once a FALCON and proud to see that Bowling Green 1984 championship banner hanging at Ford Field all week!

As TG points out in the linked article.... Two of our greatest coaches left to coach at their alma mater. Ron Mason left for Michigan State and Jerry York for BC. You can't blame them for that.....

Actually, Mason is not a Michigan State alumnus. I think he went to St. Lawrence.
