BC would never leave hockey East, and there is no argument that could ever be made to even ask them too do so.
The only reason, the big ten is expanding east and west like this is to expand market share, $ and player recruitment...it all about football and the very real likely change to a BCS stand alone conference, then D1 where BGSU lives with all the other mid feeders.

I think there is a lot of underestimating the power of money in today's college athletics.
I've heard very hot rumors which have Nebraska, Missouri, Rutgers, Boston College, ND to the Big Can't Count Conference.
Think about that for a moment whilst contemplating the Big Can't Count Channel. You're adding ND with national appeal. Rutgers gets you access to the Philly and New York markets and Boston College get's you - of course - Boston along with quite a bit of the NE market.
You basically get's in "in" to the first, third, fourth, seventh, eleventh, and fifteenth markets along with all the smaller markets [think Dayton.] You're scoring at least a fifth of the households in the US.
I doubt highly that this realignment will not touch hockey. Boston College Hockey would jump IN A HEARTBEAT to have access to a FIFTH of the national households especially when those households are in the hockey recruiting bread basket. It's foolish to think they are beholden to a conference simply because of "tradition." Ask Nebraska about their tradition going back to the SWC.

I don't think Nebraska will ever get NCAA DI Hockey (unless it ever becomes as popular as football or basketball). Even with what Paul Kelly and Hockey Inc is working on- expansion of NCAA Hockey into SEC, BIG 12 and PAC-10 territory over the next 10-15 years.
Penn State is a good candidate for NCAA Hockey, they'd probably go into Hockey East. I think even sooner and more likely is Syracuse (already have a women's a few years old) another school that would probably go to Hockey East.

If the BCCC were to move to 16 teams, would it be required in membership to field [sic] a hockey team? Answer: No. It's a strawman argument to think that one school not having a program would somehow make BC stay put in H.E.
This is all assuming the above scenario of five teams joining the BCCC actually happens.

Re: End of CCHA or possible realignment
Being that I'm planning a move to Knoxville by the end of this year, I would be very supportive of allowing UAH into the CCHA. It'd be a nice way to pop down just a few short hours to see BG play some hockey instead of the 7-hour trek North. (Not that I won't still be making that drive, but 2 1/2 or so is a lot easier to do.)jg4242 wrote: As for the CCHA, I really think the league should allow UAH in for next year. With all the programs stable, and UNO leaving, the time is right to bring Alabama-Huntsville into the fold and bring us back up to 12. Plus, they're easily the strongest of the currently independent teams.
