RIP Paul Yutzy

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Long time Falcon Hockey supporter, Paul Yutzy passed away. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of serving on the committee that Paul chaired, which was set up to raise funds to build the expansion on the ice arena. Paul also used to give the invocation at the beginning of the hockey banquets. These were some of the funniest prayers (related to the recent hockey season and several of our hated opponents, such as Ron Mason's Spartans!) I'd ever heard. It was hard not to laugh out loud, though many of us did!! If any of you had the pleasure of knowing this very kind, gentle man, you know how much he will be missed.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Paul,
Stop by the Pearly Gates Country Club and say hello to my Mom and Dad.

From time to time, drop into the locker room and say a prayer for the guys.

You Sir will be missed.

I never met him but I do remember his prayers at the hockey banquets. I looked forward to hearing his invocation each year. If he was anything like the man I heard delivering those invocations, then he must have been a fantastic person and someone who will definitely be missed.

This is so incredibly sad! Mr. Yutzy's invocations were something to be remembered, now I wish someone would've recorded them or written them down. The Hockey Program has lost an ardent supporter and friend. I had the pleasure to speak to Mr. Yutzy about a year ago when he came into my office. I wish I'd had more time to talk with him and his wife at the time! RIP Paul!

GO FALCONS!
