Ohio State vs. Michigan at Jacob's Field
Talks have started to hold an outdoor collegiate hockey game between Ohio State and Michigan at the Jake. I think this is awesome but I also think the CCHA is missing out on an opportunity to make this a weekend tournament or just a weekend event with two games each day. Get 8 teams within the area (OSU, Michigan, Sparty, WMU, BGSU, Miami, ND and then whichever other team is most willing to travel to Cleveland for the game) and have an amazing weekend of outdoor hockey.

As long as they remember that there is NO "Jake" anymore, only Progressive Field...wouldn't want anyone to get lost!

From some sources I have within the ball park, BG was mentioned as a partner with OSU for the game. There are a number of BG alum within the Indians front office that were pushing for the game.
From what I am hearing, it will be part of a revamped second edition of Indians Snow Days. That could be why the Indians haven't formally announced anything. The details are still being worked out for that event. Plus the Indians just wrapped up a pretty successful Indians Music Festival this past weekend and want to enjoy the success of that event for a little while. After all January is still over 6 months away...

For some reason I can't see OSU and/or Michigan wanting to allow a school like BG to get any type of benefit, either financially or merely for exposure.

I would doubt Bowling Green would be included as well. Miami would be a much more logical choice if they were going to play a mid major school at one of those. We bring little to the table in terms of marketing benefits for a game like that.

BGSU should play in the Jake, advertise it well enough and the local BG alums will come out for it.
I cant believe they would put a UM vs OSU hockey game there. First of all, it would be all UofM fans, because OSU has I think about 10 hockey fans that I counted when I went to the UofM vs OSU game last year. But OSU football fans might support the game, with UofM domination in the stands and on the ice.
I think BGSU and Miami should be there playing as well. Make it a regular tournament; helps hockey in general and helps keep Miami and (hopefully) BG going. Lets rally the troops behind a regular tourney at the Jake or even at the arena in Cleveland(or both, tourney championship at the Jake). I would like to see Pitt get a hockey team (rumor) and maybe move it to Pitt(better hockey fans, more support for tourney) or have both tourneys.
But who knows. Does anyone know whether they have started working on the inside of the arena? Any pics on the construction yet?

Re: Ohio State vs. Michigan at Jacob's Field
These two schools will draw a big crowd and this is exactly the mindset that has seperated the CCHA. Michigan's home game last year that draw 100,000+ gives them unbelievable revenue from hockey at $20 (I'm guessing here) times 100,000 is $2 million.
BG would have to draw 5,000 a game averaging 18 home games a season and produce that for 12 straight years to equal that ONE michigan home game. BG hasn't drawn 4,000 in back to back game in I don't know how long. We don't have the resources to compete or do any of the MAC schools if the Big Ten elitist mindset continue on this path.
Hockey should have some sort of revenue sharing for situations listed above for the mere fact that smaller schools are going to get phased out. They need all schools to compete and look out for each other. Then who are these Big Ten teams going to play, each other 15 times.
