We have all seen players make poor decisions in every sport. Some NCAA sports are more heavily afflicted with troubled youths than others. Hockey is unique because for the players, many physical issues can be handled on the ice. Especially at the JR level, where fighting is an allowed and embraced part of the game. I have no respect for players who allow these action to spill over the glass and boards. What happens on the ice stays on the ice, is my feeling. I am going to be curious how Ohio State, deals with the future of Kevin Irwin (Cleveland Ohio, USA NTDP Alumni). A player who many have touted as being on the brink of burn out anyway and being wound tighter than a top.

My guess is they do nothing even if the filed charges are proven court. Ohio State has let many things slide in other sports so what is to stop them here? They may feel this is just what they need to stimulate a fan base? I cant see how any racial charged incident would be good personally, especially at a campus as diverse as Ohio State.

Re: Judging NCAA programs by how they cope with talent
Did you realize the kid who the racial slur was directed at is Jordan Samuels-Thomas's younger brother? When I saw that name, I knew there couldn't be another hockey playing kid named Samuels-Thomas and NOT be related to JST! I searched out last year's Media Guide and sure enough, it's his brother! It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Any offers those kids have should be pulled if the police charge them with assault. PERIOD.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

The Zero State commit, Kevin Irwin, is being charged with 2 counts of assault causing injury:

Not a kid who'd be playing for our coaching staff......EVER!
