Mark Cooper: A bit small but if able to put on muscle could be a force. Playmaker with a good goal sense. Has glimpses of a playmaker with good to great vision. Still coming into his body.
Jose Delgadillo: Big strong shutdown defensemen. Not a big offensive threat but a very strong defender. Provides great depth on the PK. Won't be a 30 goal guy but can block shots and strong skater.
Ralfs Freibergs: Probably the biggest "get" of the recruits. Offensive-minded defenseman who will be relied on to QB the PP. Great offensive touch but will need to shore up his defensive game. A bit small for a defenseman. Expected to come in and play right away.
Ben Murphy: Big body with an offensive skillset. Quick snapshot. Another guy expected to come in and contribute on PP. Goal scorer first and foremost. Can play multiple positions.
Matt Pohlkamp: Probably the rawest of players we're bringing. Just graduated from high school in Minnesota. This is without a doubt Ty's recruit with his MN hockey experience. Very smart, very athletic. Going to be a steep learning curve going straight from high school to college hockey but could be a special player given a few seasons to play.

Is Brent Tate still signing with BG this year? A gentleman came up to us at the Frozen Four saying that he's a great get as long as he stays out of the penalty box.

These five are those who signed their LOIs as of last Wednesday. I haven't heard if he's going to sign, if he got another offer, or if his offer was pulled. Players can sign their LOIs up until August 1st so he may sign late.
However, we have five players coming in to replace four scholarships. I do wonder if one of the players will be a preferred walk-on or if they got one of the players an academic full-ride.

I thought the article on the kids seemed to indicate that the HS kid might wind up in Jrs. for a year, which would mean he wouldn't be on scholarship for 2012-13.BGDrew wrote:These five are those who signed their LOIs as of last Wednesday. Tate may be on the Dajon mingo, Derek Hills plan and will need to get his academics in order this next year first.
Pohlkamp is 2013 playing in the USHL next year.
As far as LOI's and hockey go, 99% of the kids who verbal go to that school. So LOI days are not nearly as meaningful in hockey as they are in say football or basketball. The player to watch next year is Mingo up front and Hills back on the blue and seeing what impact a year off has had on their games, and ability to find the net.

Assuming, of course, that Mingo becomes eligible. There is an early summer class that he needs to pass from what I understand.Falcon1970 wrote:Tate may be on the Dajon mingo, Derek Hills plan and will need to get his academics in order this next year first.

Tate has signed on to BG.
