Maybe not the most sportsman-like chant, but as they are leaving our ice, we them to never want to come back. That way, when they have to come back, they will fear it and they will now they will have to deal with a loud and rowdy bunch in Bowling Green. Also, we didn't mean for it to catch on, but it has. It wasn't stolen from any other school, so that is good, right?

I'm loving the student support...but not everything they say whether they "invented" it or not... :-D

Would REALLY love to see the Goal Count Cheer come back like it was in the glory days. I know the students do "something" like it, but it doesn't compare to the ENTIRE arena counting together and screaming: WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE, GO, GO, GO, GO, GO!!! (while pointing at the opposing goalie!) :supz:

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Only one Ay-ziggy-zoomba, instead of doing 6, and then when we are on the third one out of that six, we score again and have to start all over, but go to seven this time!

That is what we do for goals....
Student Section Goal Chant:
"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (While holding up the number of goals on our hands.)
*Goal Count (Ex: One-Two-Three...)
We Want More x4
Go x6
Sing Ay Ziggy Zoomba once for each goal.

I know, but it gets a little crazy, and people don't even sing it, they just yell in jibberish after 4+, and then yell B-G-S-U! Also, people are bad at timing...at least when counting the goals, no one really knows when to start it, and when they hear the front chanting it, it's already done, or close to being done. That's just from my experiences though.

Agreed. I like the chant, but it always gets screwed up. Additionally, for some reason people have no concept of tempo when singing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba and you end up with half of the people done with a verse while the rest are still only halfway through.

In the future, before next season, the Bleacher Creatures are going to start having meetings for students to help better our student section. We can practice all of our cheers then. That will help. The cheer is fine, people just need to learn how to say it.

Agreed. I like the cheer. People just don't know how it goes. Perhaps a BG News article with some of the cheers prior to the first home game? Students do read the newspaper, so it might not be a bad idea.

That cost money though. Getting stuff in the BG News isn't cheap. Once next season rolls around, we will be even better than we are now and the student section will all be together. We have a good plan, just too late into the season this year to use it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the goal count used to start as soon as the band finished playing "Forward Falcons?" The timing was easy then.

The goal cheer starts right after the announcer says who scored the goal, the time of the goal, assists on the goal, and whatever else he says when we score.

We go "ohhhhhhhhhhhhh" then we start counting and that's what throws people off...they don't know when to stop "oohing" and when to start counting.

Just about whatever the student section says or does is fine with me, as long as they continue to show up, be loud and have fun. While I understand the desire of many old-timers to revive chants/cheers from the good-old-days, it's really up to today's students to put their own stamp on the program.

My advice; be loud, be creative...but don't be vulgar.
