Glad they made the change. Also means we will have an extra week of regular season than we do now.
WCHA Playoffs
Re: WCHA Playoffs
Aren't teams only allowed to play 34 regular season games (36 if they travel to Alaska)? The extra week wouldn't make any difference unless we can schedule exhibition games against the NTDP or something, right?
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.
Re: WCHA Playoffs
The extra week this season could have eliminated two of the 4 Tuesday games. And with the possibility of going to Alaska for 4 games, there is a chance to play 38 games in a season.rood wrote:Aren't teams only allowed to play 34 regular season games (36 if they travel to Alaska)? I like the playoff format. As much as I enjoyed last year's playoff run, everybody making the playoffs reduces the importance of the regular season. The CCHA is simply playing to host a playoff game. The WCHA next year will be playing to MAKE the playoffs. It will make the hockey that much better.

Re: WCHA Playoffs
I agree with your second paragraph completely but we did have two weekends off in November and one and a half in December (though the weekend of 12/21-22 may have been mandatory as no teams anywhere played that week). It wasn't lack of time to play those games on the weekend but scheduling issues, at least in some cases.pdt1081 wrote: The extra week this season could have eliminated two of the 4 Tuesday games. I think with the greater travel distances next year that we won't be seeing any mid-week conference games.

Re: WCHA Playoffs
According to my understanding, the "Alaska/Hawaii exemption" can only be used for ONE trip per season. So, even in those years we have to travel there twice, we only get 2 extra games...meaning 36, not 38.
Du hockey comme dans le temps!
