Maybe he should worry more about why his team wasn't ready to play than why so few of his school's fans failed to show up. Miami travelled really well for yesterday's game. I'd put first game attendance at 1,000.

What genius thought it would be a good idea to put two of the regionals less than three hours apart? If the ticket prices hadn't kept me away I would have had to decide which one to go to but if they did Grand Rapids this year and Toledo next year I would have gone to both (personal finances willing).
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Overpriced tickets. Finals on Easter. Where were the three or four thousand ND fans? Attendance at the Yale/UND final in Grand Rapids - 1918.

When the local TV ads said, "Ticket prices start at $75." I thought, "Wow, THAT'S a lot!!" Was the $75 for all three games? I thought I heard it was, which doesn't sound nearly as bad, but geez, SAY SO. I'm sure that kept people away.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Yes. $45 a day, or $75 for all three games.

Notre Dame had virtually nobody there. The people walking around wearing BG gear almost out numbered them. After reading the threads on USCHO I was surprised to see close to 1500 or so Miami fans.

You know what would have made for a better atmosphere? Not getting blown out by four goals less than three hours from your University.

I would guess there were as many ND fans in Toledo Saturday as there are for a Friday night regular season game at the Ice Arena. I could not believe there were not more t-shirt fans and certainly loyal alums for an NCAA game.

Miami had a nice crowd but that said I see why they built their arena small.

Would there have been better local support if it were hosted in BG at a renovated Ice Arena?

The few articles I read in the online edition of theToledo Blade made it sound like Toledo was hosting ithe games, not BG.

The Blade mobile APP stated BG was one of the final 4 in the regional (I wish I would have saved it for proof).

Good to hear BG fans were present. I am sure if ND would have won, he wouldn't be whining about the crowd or atmoshphere.

ND complains this year about hockey and the women's coach at osu complains about the site for basketball last year. Simply the mentality of these big program coaches and their fans, alums, players, assistants, media, etc.

I love the contrast of the Minnesota State coach talking about how great his team felt they were treated. Really brings out the true colors of ND in the article.

Yup, ticket prices, Easter weekend. NC$$ is all about the $$. No way most local families would attend at those prices. I totally agree with Jackson about the "media" time-outs. Terrible. Breaks up the flow of the game, stops momentum and is alien to the type of play that got each team to the tournament.

I believe the round of 16 should be played on campuses for the higher seeded teams and should be a best of 3 scenario. I can't imagine the NCAA is making money off leasing an arena for a weekend and only getting 4,000 people through the gates. Keep the Frozen Four a neutral site, but I believe teams should be rewarded for a good season by being able to host "first round" games.

Agree with everything, but your last statement. I know for fact the CCHA (probably WCHA also) has had media time-outs for every game, regardless if it was on TV. The object was to make every game the same for every team. Only difference this past weekend is they seemed twice as long.

Jeff Jackson is just a grumpy old man. Never smiles. I was at all the games this weekend. Notre Dame completely sucked. Were not ready to play and that is on the coaching staff. No support from their fans. St. Cloud is an excellent team and their fans were great. Miami had a good turn out. My 2 cents about the weekend as follows.

1. Easter weekend is just a bad weekend. Nothing was open on Sunday (except for Frickers)
2. Attendance was poor all weekend. Arena was no more than a third full at any time.
3. You price the tickets out of reach for a family resulting in very few kids but then the adults can't buy a beer. In between games 1 and 2 on Saturday, we had one hour and five minutes to kill. However, you were not allowed to leave the arena. So if you wanted to go across the street to the Blarney for a beer and a sandwich, you were out of luck.
4. The music on the PA when the game was stopped was awful. At one stage, they played "Rhinestone Cowboy" by Glen Campbell. Seriously?
5. The Walleye gift shop was closed. Might have been fun to take a Walleye hat or t-shirt or Jersey back to Minnesota.

On a positive note, the BGSU folks working the arena did a great job. Jim our PA Announcer was outstanding. Sounded great. I saw Rick Comley the former MSU coach, and there were a lot of NHL scouts there and saw a lot of BGSU players at the games.

The hockey was great and St. Cloud could win it all.
