This weekend is a chance to make some noise -- in the conference and nationally.

OUTSTANDING!! :supz:

GO FALCONS!!!
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEP THE BULLDOGS!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

This week's rankings!

Pairwise: BGSU @ #14
KRACH: BGSU @ #16

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2013/11 ... g-the-wcha

"If there's one trend this week when it comes to comparing human voters with the computer polls, it's that the computers have a much higher estimation of the re-formed WCHA than human voters do. The human polls seem to be just starting to recognize how good 8-2-1 Ferris State is, while the Pairwise says Ferris State belongs right in the middle of the conversation with the best teams in the country.

In addition, the Pairwise has two more WCHA teams in Lake Superior and Bowling Green within the NCAA tournament field. Lake Superior barely cracks USCHO's top 20, but otherwise, nobody paid those two much mind.

So who has it right? Is the WCHA as bad as everyone thinks? Or is everyone just not appreciating how good those teams are?"

The SBN article quoted here is incorrect. We are #14 in the RPI...not in the Pairwise (PWR). PWR (of which RPI is one of several components) can't even be calculated this early in the season...you won't see it until January.

That doesn't change the fact that the article writer's central theme IS correct. Objective, metrics like PWR, RPI, KRACH often differ from polls, because the voters (even if they are knowledgeable 'experts') have some built-in bias.

thanks, good call.
also, in the RPI...our SOS Rank is #9. so yes, objective metrics are our friend (so far anyway).
