The reality is that the team started out this season playing very well and lifted everyone's hopes and expectations, which is a good thing. The problem is now that they have hit a rough patch, which hopefully ended last night, we are all more disappointed than we have been in the past. Coach Bergeron is in his fourth season here. The reality is out of the seven seniors on this team he recruited only one. The others were all recruited by Dennis Williams during a time when the program was close to shutting down. I am not slamming Dennis Williams nor any of the seniors as they were put in an impossible situation due to Greg Christopher, the former AD, even contemplating shutting hockey down. That is something that continues to plague, to some degree, this program. The last thing a wise fan would want right now is anymore instability and hopefully most of us realize that this forum is a public one that other teams recruiters can show prospective recruits and infer we are not a stable program.
Reality is coach Bergeron will be here until the end of his contract, we are a stable program and each year have increased the number of wins. However, that is a trend that must continue for the program to attract one or two top tier recruits once in awhile. Again, reality is college hockey has changed quite a bit from the late '70's and early '80's when we were a national power.

Re: Reality Check
THANK YOU!!
VERY well stated!!
And speaking of SENIORS....Saturday is Senior Night and those boys deserve a decent crowd to thank them for sticking with the program when many others did not. Their dedication is much appreciated by those of us who went through those dark days prior to their arrival! The students start their spring break, so plenty of seats will be available!!
GO FALCONS!!
SWEEP the beavers!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Reality Check
Not sure where to post this buy isn't there dome stupid WCHA rule where both Alaska teams would face each other in the playoffs to help eliminate travel costs. If anyone knows of this could they share their knowledge
