Re: Recruit updates
good stuff!
which reminds me, a recruiting question.
the team is carrying 28 players this year.
according to my calcs, we're losing 8 seniors for next year.
we've got at least 11 coming in (12 with Valleau) for 2014-2015. 20 + 12 = 32, big team! so how does that work?
maybe they're figuring on more players leaving, or some of the recruiting class not showing up? hmm.

Re: Recruit updates
Looking at Heisenberg's list, four of those eleven recruits are projected as (possible) 2015 arrivals. So, seven definites plus Valleau for next season works out perfectly. I think we've gotten to the point as a program that we won't have involuntary early departures any more though it's always possible one or two guys might turn pro early.

Re: Recruit updates
ah, that makes sense.
I was going by the list at collegecommitments.com, but there have been (and are) errors there.
currently they list only Houle as coming in 2016.

Langley, BC - The Rivermen are pleased to announce Ryan Coulter has committed to play with Langley for the 2014-15 BCHL season.
The 1995-born Ontario native is currently in his senior year at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. The 5'11" 195 pound forward has also already secured a scholarship to Bowling Green State University.
"We're very excited about Ryan's committment, he brings a lot of the intangibles that we look for here with the Rivermen," said Langley Head Coach and General Manager, Bobby Henderson.
"The biggest thing that Ryan will bring to us is his compete level. He has good speed, a good skillset, and is a guy that loves the game and loves to play to win. He's a young man with a lot of character and coming from the prestigious program at Culver we know he will fit well with us here in Langley."
Drafted by the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League in 2011, Coulter has had his eyes set on the college route from a young age.
"I'm really excited to play in Canada again, I've heard a lot about the BCHL, a lot of guys from Ontario go to play there and say it's the best spot to prepare yourself before going to college," said Coulter.
"I've also heard a lot about Langley, other Bowling Green guys say it's a great spot to develop as a player."
Coulter also agrees with Henderson's assessment of his playing style.
"My strongest feature is my competitiveness, I'll do anything to win, win any battle, I play with a lot of energy and a lot of toughness."
The Rivermen wish Ryan the best of luck with the rest of his season in Culver, and look forward to seeing him hit the ice in Langley.

Re: Recruit updates
Heisenberg has Friedman listed as a 2014 and looking at his stats I think he's ready to make the jump; Schilling and McDonald are listed as 2014 or 2015. McKeown is listed as 2015.
Make of that what you will.

Re: Recruit updates
With Carpenter leaving, and the status of Mingo, I wouldn't count on anything till the puck drops next season.rood wrote:Heisenberg has Friedman listed as a 2014 and looking at his stats I think he's ready to make the jump; Schilling and McDonald are listed as 2014 or 2015. Whiteside had a career ending injury and is no longer a recruit.
