Frozen Four Finest: Round 1

Post by Falcon Hockey Fan »

The Frozen Four Finest is a bracket style competition that honors previous Frozen Four teams, but also puts them against one another to see who the fan favorite team will be. The 1984 BGSU team is in the bracket, and our round one face off is tomorrow starting at Noon! To vote, head to the link and vote using your social media. Let's win this competition for our alumni/ hockey program!

It wouldn't let me vote more than once. I used both Facebook and Twitter to get 2 votes in. Tried again and it wouldn't' let me.

GO FALCON HOCKEY!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

For some reason, I had never remembered seeing that great photo before, so it got me thinking.

I found that the NHL tradition of the on-ice photo with the Stanley Cup was credited as being started by the 1988 Edmonton Oilers and specifically Wayne Gretzky.

But I see now that we beat him, so to speak, by 4 years!

I'm wondering now whether any other college teams took a similar photo before us?

"I read it on the internet, so it MUST be true."
I think the on-ice tea photo with trophy is pretty much obligatory
