Not to undermine the strides this program is making, but based on last week's completely worthless poll, I really don't care what USCHO thinks of us.

Have to agree with critical thinker. Seems like the voters pay a little better attention later in the season though.

Well, sorry to see the ho hum attitude. Considering from where this program has come and the fact we're getting this many votes so early in the season, I figured folks would be a bit more excited. Bah Humbug! LOL

Thing is, there's 59 D1 hockey programs. 37 are currently receiving votes in this poll. When USCHO expended their poll from 10 to 20, it became a watered down, "everybody gets a trophy" type deal. Once they start voting us in the top 10, you'll find get a more enthusiastic response. There's A LOT of hockey yet to be played.

FWIW, we're garnering votes in both major polls. (The USA Hockey/USA Today poll recognizes the top 15, fwiw) To me, the fact that we're even receiving votes is significant since we've pretty much been ignored for so long (and for good reason). If you're more interested in less biased rankings, such as the pairwise (we're 11th in that one :) ), this is a good page to visit: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/pwr/" target="_blank

the rise would mean more if it didn't come from beating up on UAH. doesn't make much sense, that.
fortunately, it will mean more as we go along.

I think we can ALL agree on 5 things:

1. The program's headed in the right direction.
2. We can't help but be pleased with what we've seen so far this season.
3. Subjective polls don't mean squat, especially this early in the season.
4. It's nice to be getting a little recognition.
5. Miami sucks.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
