Should've Been A Shutout

Good win. If they taught basic math at Ferris State, it would've been a shutout.

Sat behind mavs bench tonight. They were frantic about too many on the ice before they scored. Oh well, a win makes up for all. Good game from Burke, huge improvement in effort, consistent for three periods.

Ferris? Who was the ref?

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I know we didn't play Ferris, or was he talking about another game?

Apparently the ref who didn't call the too many men on the ice penalty that led to Mankato's only goal went to Ferris.

Keith Sergott was the ref behind the play.

It was a sloppy, sloppy game by both teams. It really could have went either way. I'm just glad it went the way it did.

This was our fault in the student section, sorry. When the refs first came out onto the ice, we yelled at them that Halloween was over and they should take their zebra costumes off (and they acknowledge they heard it). They were just getting back at us.

The ultimate insult on their goal was that the extra man they had on the ice actually got an assist on the goal.

Much improved effort over the previous night, especially on the defensive side.

Good bounce back win....it wasn't pretty, but it was a win. Can't get swept at home and compete for a league title. I still don't see us as a ncaa tournament team, but in this league we may be able to get hot in the tournament.

I'm not sure if sloppy is the right word to describe the game. It may have appeared sloppy because both teams were playing at an equally high level and both teams were in each other's faces all night. It was evident that we were frustrating the hell out of them because they weren't able to skate around with impunity like they seemed to do on Friday night. We have the speed to keep up with them and when we use it we get good results.

I also didnt feel it was sloppy, although the mavs probably looked a little sloppy in comparison to their passing clinic Friday night. Looked to me like the falcons came out with a physical game plan and made it happen.

As far as the tournament, I'm not sure yet. If they come out with the intensity we saw Saturday and home vs Miami I'd take our chances against anybody. If they can't come out that way consistently no way. Talent level is definitely up from previous years but still nowhere near where they can expect to just show up and win, which is what Friday night looked like to me. Getting Tate back should help, he's a high energy guy, should also help draw some more penalties.
