Trade powerplay goals in the second and it ends tied at 1.

An ugly azz third period ends with a 4-3 BG WIN!

Good to see some of the hockey alumni back this weekend. I shot some photos and put them in the gallery from tonight's game.

Another Saturday game played with 5 defensemen. Odd to see that at home.

Glad we got two this weekend. Seems nothing is going to be easy this year...is that a fair assessment? If we are under performing, why is that?

Losing Valleau and Ferrari (who would have been two of the top four on D) unexpectedly and with no way to replace them leaves a really big gap in the roster.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Coach may see about bringing in one of the defense recruits early for the second half. He doesn't want to but having Walker logging over 30 mins of play time per game is risky. It seemed like he was always on the ice this past weekend.

I also think that we have forwards that are playing back on D more which effects our ability to break the puck out at times. It's not a good situation.

Was I going crazy, or did I see 5 forwards on our 2nd power play unit during some PPs? Probably trying to give our D some rest.

Can't comment on whether or not you're crazy, but one powerplay unit is 5 forwards. I've never really been a fan of it, but it seems to be paying off.

One of the biggest problems I notice every game is trying to get the puck through the neutral zone. Other teams know exactly where the puck is going and get there first. Besides that is the fact that the outlet pass is going to a player who is not moving. It just doesn't work. Carrying the puck to the opponent's blueline and passing it to a player who isn't moving doesn't work either. Quick passing to players moving is what's needed to gain the zone with speed and control.

I agree with that. I have never been a fan of dumping the puck into the zone when we are on the power play. I have also noticed that we lose a lot of faceoffs in the offensive zone when on the power play, but that seemed to improve this weekend. I hope it keeps improving.

We've come a long way when a #15 ranking, second place in the conference, and one of the best goalies in the game isn't quite up to expectations.

We've come along way, yes. At the same time, those of us that have been around a long time know that what we're seeing in the ice shouldn't produce those results. And if the product on the ice doesn't improve, it won't maintain those results.

Even though it's WAY too early to talk Pairwise, the schedule speaks for itself. Miami, Western, Tech, and Clarkson are the only opponents currently higher than BG's #23. IF the season ended today, none would be high enough to make the post-season. If you look at KRACH, BG is #26, with Ferris and Anchorage also higher, and only Miami would be in the post season (barely). The schedule has been fairly easy so far. The record should be a lot better than .500 (let's face it, ties against RIT and LSSU are basically losses).
