If I owned a fence company, you bet your ass I'd specify my donation go towards a fence.apollo wrote:I don't think a donor called the athletic department and said "I'd like to invest in a new fence around the football practice fields."
The former coach felt that it was vital to fence in the practice fields and either 1. The department paid for it, 2. The department paid for some and someone had made a donation, or 3. They found a donor to pay for the entire project.
Of those 3 scenarios, number 3 is the least likely. Thus back to my original point...we didn't need a fence around the practice fields, it is/was a waste of money.
Nice attempt at being clever....I may be an asshole, but I'm right.

Re: Ice Arena Expansion?
WONDERFUL to hear! And not surprised. She has been a big supporter of the hockey program. She is at most the home games when she's in town. That was a wonderful encounter with our President!TheNuts wrote:Moved my daughter into her dorm today and ran into Dr. Mazey. "Dr. Mazey, thanks for being a fan of the hockey team, I'm a season ticket holder." She said before she got to BG she didn't know the first thing about hockey. Without prompting, she then went on to talk about McPhee at Vegas, Mac at Washington, Bylsma getting inducted into the HOF, and how she loves the excitement at the games. I was floored that the president of the university knows about the GM position of an NHL expansion team.
What does this have to do with the topic of the Ice Arena expansion? Nothing directly other than there is SERIOUS support for the program from the highest echelon of the university.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Thank you, this was much appreciated. No longer having to read this troll makes the forum a lot more enjoyable.rood wrote:Click on User Control Panel at the top of the page, then Manage Friends and Foes, add the culprit to your foes list. Spelling counts.TheNuts wrote:

Troll, no need to respond, I can't read it anyway...

Blocking people is a pussy move
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Hopefully this shows up for everybody. It's a picture that was posted on Facebook by Bowling Green Bobcat Hockey. Seems very obvious BIG changes are coming to the Ice Arena.

Wait. So, after 50 years, there is a plan to rename the BGSU Ice Arena?
Huh.
Huh.

Sounds like somebody just made a huge donation.
Re: Ice Arena Expansion?
"The Ice Arena presented by BGSU"
Re: Ice Arena Expansion?
I believe it is a donation from Scott Slater, to be named Slater Family Ice Arena, they signed a deal the day after thanksgiving.

I could do without "Family" in the name, but hey..."Meet me at The Slate, I have an extra seat in Section G," has a nice ring to it.edjwolfe wrote:I believe it is a donation from Scott Slater, to be named Slater Family Ice Arena, they signed a deal the day after thanksgiving.
At least they avoided calling it the dreaded Guaranteed Rate Ice Arena.

The donor chooses the name. However, I like the idea of "The Slate". It will probably still get called that. Football is held in "The Doyt".TalonsUpPuckDown wrote:I could do without "Family" in the name, but hey..."Meet me at The Slate, I have an extra seat in Section G," has a nice ring to it.edjwolfe wrote:I believe it is a donation from Scott Slater, to be named Slater Family Ice Arena, they signed a deal the day after thanksgiving.
