I'm surprised Walker hasn't signed as a free agent with somebody. What makes Friedman a better defenseman than Walker?

Friedman was drafted, so he only had an offer from one team. I'm sure multiple teams are interested in Walker, which will take a little more time to negotiate and finalize a contract.

Though it's the Friedman leaving thread, we should probably consider this the early departures thread. Some talk from the Ranger community on the Nell signing. They're saying good things about him.

There was a point made later in the thread that Friedman was drafted and had one team to deal with. Very true . Philly had his rights, so it's just a decision on their part to move forward and Mark to say yes. Also Frieds is an outstanding skater. Walker is above average, but that is another difference.

I don't think you will see Walker sign an ECHL deal this spring. He will wait for development camps this summer and hopefully go right to an AHL/NHL deal.
