Coaching Carousel 2018

Post by mbenecke »

This is unofficial official thread to discuss and speculate about the college hockey coaching carousel in 2018.

Don Lucia stepped down at Minnesota last Tuesday, and St. Cloud State's Bob Motzko has just been hired to take his place.

With the St. Cloud State job open, I have to think they will at least give Mike Hastings (Minnesota State) a call, as he is an alum and was also an assistant there in the 1990s. Any other ideas on who candidates might be?

Nope. He’d be allowed to leave without penalty.

UAF is still in the process as well. Lance West was only the interim coach there.

With the mess up there would anyone really want to commit to either Alaska school?

I'm curious who candidates would be at these openings. I've always found this speculation to be intriguing.

If Coach Bergeron were ever to leave for another job, what would it be? In my opinion, he only leaves for a HUGE pay bump, to go back "home" to Miami, or to take a job in the NHL.

Chris Brooks rebuilt a D3 power house at UWSP before taking the assistant job at Michigan Tech this year. He's dying to be a D1 head coach but may decide to bide his time until the job at WMU opens.
