@/vs. Robert Morris (10/12-10/14)

Post by mbenecke »

Following an exciting 6-2 win over the #18 in the country, our Falcons have their next game on Friday, this time back in Pennsylvania at Robert Morris for a 7:00pm start. After Friday night's game, both teams will travel back to Bowling Green, having an off day on Saturday, before meeting at 5:00pm at the Slater Family Ice Arena for our home opener. Sunday's game will be a #PINKOUT theme, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. I would encourage all who are able to attend - this team has the feeling of a very special one, and you won't want to miss out on seeing them in person plenty of times this year.

Last year, Robert Morris finished with an overall record of 18-20-3, good for 7th in the Atlantic Hockey Conference standings. Despite their poor regular season, they advance all the way to the AHC Championship game, losing to the 5th seed Air Force, 5-1.

This year, RMU is projected by the media to finish 4th in the conference, with 3 members of their team being named 2nd-team All-AHC: F Alex Tonge, F Luke Lynch, and G Francis Marotte. The Colonials enter this weekend's home-and-home series following a 4-2 exhibition win over Brock University.

Offense/Defense Stats:

Last year, they were 4th in the AHC in goals per game, at 2.95. They were also 3rd in goals allowed per game, at 2.59.
Last year, BG was 4th in the WCHA in goals per game at 2.98. BG was also 2nd in goals allowed per game at 2.44.

Goalie Stats:

Francis Motte - .919 SV%, 2.54 GAA, 17-15-3
Bednard - .916 SV%, 2.24 GAA, 15-8-4

Leave your comments and predictions below. I'm really looking forward to not only Friday night's game, but also the home opener on Sunday!

Go Falcons!

I like BG 5-2 on Friday and then 6-1 on Sunday, to finish off the sweep.

I scouted their website, and it appears that they only sell tickets at the gate. As annoying as that is, it's definitely not unprecedented, as Mercyhurst was the same way. It could be an AHC thing? Either way, it appears that you won't be able to purchase tickets in advance.

It's game day. We aren't buying the stream tonight, but I plan to follow along on twitter.

Looking forward to this match-up. Their goalie will be a good test for our offense. If we're as real as we think we might be, we've gotta take both this weekend.

Baylis is out tonight, correct? Hoping there isn't a bit of a hangover from the big win on Tuesday. RMU is a program BG should have no issue beating both nights.

RMU has 11 freshmen, all of whom played in the exhibition game.

Late in the first, currently scoreless.

Around the league, Western is up on Ferris 4-0 after 12 minutes. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

And in other BG sports, the BG Women's soccer team is looking to win its 8th straight game and go 7-0 in the MAC. Currenrly up 2-0 @ half against Kent. BG has given up 1 goal in 7 1/2 games. Now that's an incredible stat.

RMU scores both goals within 15 seconds. Need to regain our composure.
