Looking forward to seeing this team play this year. They have this kind of potential, and they should be able to do this kind of thing to a few teams in conference play. Just gotta remain focused and motivated.
The 8-2 win is a double edged sword. The competition in the next game should be a lot higher. It's now a mind game getting ready for Western. It will be interesting to see how they go through that game. Focused and poised, playing like they want to win, or lazy thinking it will be as easy as the first one.

I hope this bodes well for Baylis. I've been waiting three seasons for him to score a bunch of goals. I hope he got his unnecessary penalties out of the way there in the first minute or so.

Great to see an 8-2 win in the opener. How good is Mercyhurst? I mean 8-2 over anyone is impressive but is cautiously optimistic the way to go? GO BG!

Mercyhurst won 21 games last year, in addition to their conference's regular season conference title. It's a solid squad, though certainly not elite.

Next up will be Western Michigan in Kalamazoo on Tuesday (tomorrow) night. I plan to create a thread for that game later today, when the new USCHO rankings come out. I expect our guys to be receiving a few more votes today, and with a 3-0 week this week, we would almost certainly crack the top 20.

It's a crap shoot. Mercyhurst lost a lot from last season. I expect Robert Morris will be better than they are this season.

Agree. Aside from beating a team we’re supposed to beat (though much more handily than I expected) I’m not sure what to take away from this one. We’ll know a lot more after Tuesday.
