"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

the guys definitely hung in there and played their guts out (to steal a butch davis quote). but unfortunately, the PK killed us tonight as scUM scored what, three PP goals?

nonetheless, finishing in 5th place and with home ice the first round of the playoffs is more than anyone expected coming into this season. considering the low expectations and all the distractions, this team has done great. i really think the suspensions from the photo incident brought this team together and really helped the team gel. then the sigalet situation fortified what was already becoming a strongly united team.

i, for one, cannot wait to see these freshmen develop into the players they can be. as much as i like the NHL, i really hope they never come back so we can keep these kids as long as possible with no risk of them jumping at the draft.

GO FALCONS!!

Given the fact that we were in the toughest cluster in the league....home ice and fifth place is even more impressive. We're slowly climbing our way back into respectability....1, maybe 2 more years and we'll be back challenging for the league crown!!!

I agree with everything you said. And everyone needs to keep in mind that we were picked to finish 8th & 9th, but finished 5th, got home ice, all the while being in the TOUGHEST cluster in the league!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment and bodes VERY well for our future. Matsumoto and Pilkington hit 30 points tonight, first time since Curtis Fry did it!! Wow, and Matsumoto is a FRESHMAN!! Horrell played AWESOME against very tough competition tonight!!!

WAY TO FALCONS!!
WE ARE SOOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!
THE ROAD TO THE JOE STARTS IN BG!!!!!!
SWEEEEEEEEEEEP THE NANOOOOOOOKS!!!!!!!!

My thoughts from Yost.

1. The crowd was very subdued tonight. There were hardly any students there, shouldn't they be back from break by now?

2. Horrell played a heck of a game. The PP goals he let up he really had no chance on and there were quite a few defensive breakdowns in front of him. That has got to change.

3. I wasn't sure if I was watching football or hockey tonight. I saw a penalty for facemasking and clipping. I swear McInchak was making stuff up. "Contact to the head, after the whistle, roughing" was another one.

4. James Unger played his butt off tonight. He was the hardest working player out there without a doubt.

5. Sitko has got to keep himself under control. We and He cannot be taking as many silly penalties. (The sliding play to break up the breakaway was NOT his fault. Totally a gimme call...)
