Eh, there's a new leadership core on this team. Yes, Barber is the captain but Burke and Swankler have established themselves as vocal leaders with the team. Unfair to paint the entire group with that broad brush.
That can lead to problems itself. I'm not sure this team is as close knit as coach wants everybody to believe. If it were, there'd be no need to mention it during every presser.

I feel for the seniors. They sat behind all the seniors from last season, patiently waiting their turn. Now, they are the seniors and watching the bulk of minutes, and clutch scenarios, go to newcomers. Even the top D pair is a D3 transfer and a freshman. That cannot be easy as a player. Only time will tell how it all plays out.

I don't. Maybe it's the coach in me, but if there are better players who have transferred in than the kids who have been here for four years, so be it. I'm giving the guys with talent more ice time.

The upperclassmen who aren't getting much ice time haven't been getting much ice time throughout their careers with the exceptions of Conquest and Pitters (and maybe Danol?). Daly who was a consistent healthy scratch is on the game day roster a lot more this year. I'd like to think conversations took place a while back where expectations were set with these kids but I have no insights into whether or not those conversations happened.

Can someone correct my time math? Aren't the current juniors the last of the Berge/Barry/Ty recruiting juggernaut? They'd be freshmen in Eigner's first year but were recruited by the prior guys. So the current sophomores are all Eigner's. Do I have that right or am I off a year?

You're going to get in where you fit in. It's been awhile since BG has had much separation between their lines. For the past few years, the go to lines have been heavy with seniors, with the next class taking over the following season. This season, the top 2 lines have clearly rose above the rest. And those two lines are eating a ton of minutes every game. Just seems like a weird place where your captains are on the third and fourth lines.

To me, it seems like Craggs, Barber, and Schneider are seeing quite a bit less ice time. The all newcomer line and the sophomore line seem to be getting a heavy rotation, with longer shift times. I don't keep a stopwatch, so it could just be a matter of the 3rd line blending in a bit and not really announcing their presence like the other two.

Pitters and Conquest have been a fairly consistent Friday-Saturday rotation since they were freshman. Daly has greatly benefited from adding the 19th skater a couple years ago. Babiak, St Jean, and Danol have very rarely made a game night lineup.

Can't stay out of the box. We haven't come ready to play.

Down 3-0 midway through 1st.

Hard to watch.

Imagine a game where pick plays are called as tightly as these holding calls....

Haven't given up that many goals since we were in the old CCHA February 13, 2010 against Miami.

Are lovely friend Rico took a bow that night.

Down 0-3 at the end of 1.

Another penalty called within the first minute. Amazingly, it was "interference" for checking the guy that had the puck.

Ends 3-5. Shots show 15-24.

Hard to play a period when you have no idea what will be called a penalty and what will be let go.......
