CCHA QUARTERFINALS: @ Michigan Tech (3/8-3/10)
Re: CCHA QUARTERFINALS: @ Michigan Tech (3/8-3/10)
Falcons get swept, finish the season 13-22-1. 6 game losing streak to close the year.
3 straight losing seasons. Haven’t won a playoff GAME in 2 years. Haven’t won a playoff SERIES in 4 years. Program has no life, nothing to look forward to besides the ice arena’s renovations, can’t win at home or on the road, we have no identity.
We need a spark in the worst way. This thing has run its course.

Muster only 15 shots and allow four power play goals. They were fortunate to even be in the game.

I don’t expect it to happen but it’s time to bring in a new staff. Upgrading facilities, good financial support. We could attract a good coach.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

AD van der Merwe was there in-person at the game tonight. The last time I remember him going to a season-ending road trip was men’s basketball’s season finale at Ohio last year, and he let Michael Huger go the next day. Guess we’ll see what happens.

Having Eigner go into next year as a likely lame duck is going to do no good for the program. The staff won't be able to recruit. It's time to move on and IMO not doing so is going to cause much more harm than pulling the trigger this offseason.

This is my take, too.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 8:49 pmHaving Eigner go into next year as a likely lame duck is going to do no good for the program. The staff won't be able to recruit. I would rather have next year be the first year of the rebuild and have some life injected into the program, rather than letting the program further deteriorate under a lame duck coach. If we’re looking likely to move on, it’s just time to do it. Let’s get some new blood in here and start building things up again instead of trying to tread water and wasting another year on this. 2024-2025 needs to mean something for the future.
And not that it matters for this decision, but we’re hosting a regional at the Huntington Center in Toledo next spring. The dream would be for us to be in the dance next year so we can have a “home” regional. Pretty much just pie in the sky at this point, but that’s something on my mind here.

It's time. I've heard the money is there to move on as well.
I think Ty is an outstanding person, but I had doubts from when he took over and it's proven true. If anything, he might be too nice.
From day one there was talk of no big changes/keep on the Berge systems etc. Unfortunately there were plenty of flaws during berges time as well, choking in most every big game being one of them. Initially I really hoped the new staff would take over and address the things that had held them back before (this happens fairly often when an assistant takes over, keep what works and fix the problems they had watched for years). I'm bummed that didn't happen and they have backslid so much.
I know some will say this year wasn't exactly fair, but their results after having all players back from suspension etc were definitely not good enough. And they have continued to choke in big games.
Long story short, I hope we bring in someone new, excited to be in BG. Our program can be very successful.

No reason we can’t win in this modern version of the CCHA. There isn’t a dominant program in the league anymore. Time for us to fill that void.

Back from my social engagement. Gee, for a while there I thought we'd found the answer (me not watching the game).
I wanted Ty to succeed. Desperately. But I see it the way everyone else does. Sigh.
At least Bergeron lost again. Small victories.

It’s time to get the program back to substance. It’s time to never talk about stolen shoes again. It’s time to stop giving roster spots to your kid. It’s time to make the equipment room behind the scenes again. It’s time for the program to move on. Clean it all out and start over.
