vs. Ferris State (11/14-15)

Post by mbenecke »

After what was essentially a split in Mankato, our Falcons (2-3-3) return home this weekend for 2 games against the Ferris State Bulldogs (2-8-0). Friday night's contest at 7:07pm, Saturday night at 6:07. As with all CCHA games, they will be available to stream on Midco.

Ferris owns a win over defending champion Western Michigan and they also won their most recent game against Augustana. They're among the worse teams in the league, but our team currently cannot take any game for granted. We need to lock in and take 6 points this weekend.

Go Falcons!

Morneau with a hatty, Hotson 2 and 2. One of those crazy games.

Couldn’t get connected from within the Slate to do any updates, but what a ride that one was! Freshmen scored 6 of the 9 goals. PK was atrocious giving up three including one in the first 40 seconds of the second and one within the last 40 seconds of the second. Can we just skip the second period?

The student section was fantastic tonight. The Mavs go to OT in the Soo and drop a point to us in that matchup. Beavers win in a SO over Tech.

Agreed. Tarps were off, the place was loud and the goal was wide open. Hell of a performance offensively. Sloppy on the blue line but that can be cleaned up

I think 3 total goals tomorrow night is on the high side.

Last night was fun. Just in case you didn't know:

The last time BG scored 9 goals in a game (not including exhibition)
Dec 30 2005 at Connecticut, Won 9-2.

The last time BG allowed 5 goals and still won
Nov 6 1998 in a 6-5 win over Northern Michigan

Some great research on those stats Freddie. Need another 9 tonight so you can tell when the last 18 goal weekend was...😀

Morneau (who else?) opens the scoring in game 2.

Falcons up 1-0 halfway through the first period.

Grant immediately adds another. 3-0 Falcons before Ferris has officially registered a shot on goal.

Really nice period. 3-0 on some really nice goals. They didn’t get a SOG until about 4:30 left. Defense is clearing second chances. Palmer has made a couple of nice saves.

Now for the second period. Have we learned anything? Will this be another sh!tshow?

Thought Marten had a goal but it was disallowed for offside.

Ferris then takes advantage of a bad turnover and pots one. 3-1 Falcons early 2nd.

Middle frame horror show continues.

Not one to complain about the officials, but it's been pretty one-sided this evening. A lot of post-whistle BS going on because of it.
