2025-2026 Season
Re: 2025-2026 Season
Tech has the first defection back to the CHL. Rylan Gould was a top 6 forward, and on the powerplay. His former team traded him to Everett to make it happen.

Morneau snags ROW. Congrats.
I'm surprised Jake Sloan hasn't made more of an impact yet. I was thinking with his size he'd be shaking things up a bit more. Give him more time.

Tech Hockey Guide is posting a weekly CCHA Power Ranking. 12 voters comprised of one media person from each team plus three impartial prognosticators. Nathan Burkett from BG Falcon Media is the BG rep. We clock in at #4 this week (includes our trip to Mankato).

A stats guy from Michigan State posts this kind of stuff on r/collegehockey throughout the season. Lots of recent talk about the refs. Here's an interesting chart. While we're skew towards higher PIMs in the CCHA (Mavs are way out there!), our opponents' PIMs are basically the same.

Wonder what happens when you change it to number of penalties instead of minutes. Mankato has at least 3 majors called so far, and 2 10 minute misconducts from this past weekend alone.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 8:52 am A stats guy from Michigan State posts this kind of stuff on r/collegehockey throughout the season. Re: 2025-2026 Season
Before anyone says anything, I am not NPI watching...this is about NPI vs. PWR. There, now that's out of the way.
Someone on r/collegehockey did a comparison of current NPI rankings vs. where each team would be ranked under the old PWR setup. We are currently ranked 32 with the NPI model but would have been ranked 44 with the PWR calculation. Wow. We're +12 spots. Why the difference? From what I've read the NPI more closely follows the KRACH ratings than PWR did and, in the opinion of some, KRACH is a better indicator of how a team is performing at a particular point it time (again, what I've read). So we're pretty much average right now.

Mavs drop a point to the CCHA leaders in the Soo and they move up two places in the USCHO poll. Go figure.mbenecke wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 5:40 pmGood.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 2:19 pm Morneau and Rymon with the weeklyt accolades. Shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone.

I can't get pictures to post, but here's an interesting graphic of Penalties Taken vs Penalties Drawn. He also posted one with every D1 team.

Re: 2025-2026 Season
It is being reported that UConn men’s hockey will co-host the 2026 Ice Breaker Tournament along with Sacred Heart next season on Oct. 9-10. Penn State and Bowling Green will also participate, so both will travel to Toscano Family Ice Forum across the weekend. What a great opportunity to start next season.
