The Minnesota schools, Augie, and Tech have always held favoritism with the league since its rebirth. Probably a good thing no one in the country takes the CCHA seriously.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:00 pm Over turned goal:

Lucia's comments at intermission should 100% cost him his job, especially after the 2 reviews tonight going in Tech's favor.

I have a hard time taking this league seriously. The favoritism is too obvious, at least try and hide it better.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:36 pmThe Minnesota schools, Augie, and Tech have always held favoritism with the league since its rebirth. Despite the disappointing crap from the league and having to travel, this was a very successful weekend for BG. This is the type of play we've been wanting to see from this team for probably two decades now. We all hope this is a signal of where things are heading.
I hate the whole "what if" stuff, but at the time they lost a couple home games against teams they should have beaten, you just had the feeling it would come back and bite them in the backside. And boy did it ever.
Here's hoping they stay hot enough to take out Tech in the first round.

And those same schools (minus Augie and Tommy, obviously) were in the WCHA when the others left to form the NCHC. We're right back to the reasons they left.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:36 pm

I didn't catch Lucia's interview during the first intermission so I made the mistake of listening. Ugh. What an embarrassment. It was so bad I sat down and transcribed the relevant portions.
We were, in his mind, an also-ran.Dirk Hembroff: Here with the Commissioner of the CCHA, Don Lucia. What an exciting weekend, Don, and, uh, what was your map like or your schedule like as far as where you were going to be going here this weekend?
Don Lucia: Well, uh, we kinda had to make a decision middle of the week and I sent an email to the AD’s kinda letting them know what my priorities were because the MacNaughton Cup was in the back of my car was (unintelligible) from the Twin Cities was I going northwest, northeast, or south. And, uh, so I did my kinda parameters and let’s go with the home team’s first it’s always better to present the trophy at home
DH: Absolutely
DL: So then it became, a with Minnesota State possibility, a Michigan Tech possibility. Maybe I went with my heart a little bit saying Michigan Tech hasn’t won it since 2016. Uh, and they were up kinda heading into the weekend and so that was going to be my priority. And so if St. Thomas was ahead by a point after last night I was going to Bemidji and if Tech was ahead or tied with the other schools then I was going to come to Michigan Tech. So, weather cooperated, roads were great, so left at 9am and pulled in a little after for so it was great.
…
DH: Don, thanks for being with us here tonight, I’m glad you’re here. I certainly hope that whoever wins the MacNaughton Cup or shares the MacNaughton Cup is going to be deserving of it this year. But I hope because you’re here that it happens for Michigan Tech for sure.
DL: Yeah, you’re always partial to that. But, you know, Bowling Green’s in a spot if they win
DH: Absolutely
DL: they could still get a piece of it depending on what happens. And, you know, so whether it’s might be here and somewhere else next weekend. So even as I told Tech, if you get awarded the Cup tonight more than likely it’s gonna be back in my car in the morning going to the next spot either mid-week or maybe next weekend to award it after the first round of the playoffs.
