Is the Maryville "series" an actual series or is it considered an exhibition? I know they have a DI/DIII hybrid schedule this upcoming season but wasn't sure if these were games that counted.
Still sucks that there won't be a Buckeye series this year.

On the official schedule on BG's website, Saturday night's contest is designated as an exhibition, while Friday does not have that label. So maybe one counts and one doesn't? Maybe more likely, someone just forgot to label them both. Not certain. I'm sure that will be cleared up over time.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 6:29 pm Is the Maryville "series" an actual series or is it considered an exhibition? One of them has to be an exhibition. There's 38 games on the schedule. The USNTDP U18 game doesn't count, so that's 37. One Maryville being an exhibition makes it 36, which is allowed with the Ice Breaker.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 7:37 amOn the official schedule on BG's website, Saturday night's contest is designated as an exhibition, while Friday does not have that label. Maybe we should wait and see which Maryville game we win before we start designating games as exhibitionspdt1081 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 7:48 amOne of them has to be an exhibition. Well, the second one will be the third game in 4 days. Pretty sure that's the one you want as an exhibition.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2026 10:35 am

Re: 2026 Off-season
There were a few tidbits from the 3-star get-together last night.
The roster size for this season is 28. We currently have 2 DSA's on the roster. There is one commitment that hasn't been announced, everyone is waiting for the conclusion of the Memorial Cup. It sounded like someone from either Kitchner or Kelowna. There are two more that are working their way through the NCAA clearinghouse. No commitment as to whether they'll make it through or not (sounds like they played a year at the pro level ala Bemidji's Oliver Peer). Luke Pfoh, Chase Coughlin, and I think Sam McCue (if I have this one wrong, substitute Matthew Soto) are no longer committed. So with the 25 returners/portal and USports transfers/current commits plus the one committed but not announced plus the two currently parked with the NCAA we have our roster.
Interestingly, it was Carle that reached out to us about a home-and-home with Denver. I thought I'd heard it was in the making for a year or so. Is this our tryout for the Nachos? I'm kidding, but saying that in front of a Mankato fan would certainly get a rise out of them. As for OSU, there was some miscommunication involved, the coaching staff made it seem it was on the OSU end. Whatever.
DVDM talked about the second full-sized sheet so that's no longer "top secret" if it ever was. It's more than just a sheet to serve the University, it was mentioned how NW Ohio is in need of another sheet and that this effort is pulling in the broader community. 4-6 more locker rooms and I thought I heard the phrase "third sheet" which would imply the ex-curling/mini auxiliary rink would be staying. There's plenty of land out back and it could be easily connected to the main concourse by the back doors next to the lounge.
I liked hearing Willy's intent to make a hockey weekend an event rather than just a series. He talked about having to compete for a family's entertainment dollar and that we can expect to see more creative ways to get people into the building. He had to do this at Everett so his time in the GM spot there will hopefully pay off here.
As for fundraising, we were at $250k this past year and $200k the prior (Willy's first year). I thought I heard Stavros' goal for next year is $300k.

Re: 2026 Off-season
Good news on the additional sheets. Hockey in this area is growing - Tamo and Ice House simply can't fulfill the demand. Oregon and Perrysburg are missing the boat on this - they'd be printing money building facilities but I get they're a big ask for a community to finance.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2026 1:15 pm There were a few tidbits from the 3-star get-together last night.

Re: 2026 Off-season
I tracked all the CCHA member fundraising events (similar to our One Day). We raised nearly 3.5 times everyone else combined. That does not include Lake State's recurring $1.5m donation, this looks at only the fundraising events. Interesting that only one person donated to the Viqueens.

Interesting that Augustana is also the only other school to average $1k per donation.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2026 8:30 pm I tracked all the CCHA member fundraising events (similar to our One Day).
