I've watched all our recruits who are still in the playoffs. Verdon looks good as does Hankai. McCue has had some good moments. Bulans is doing OK. Leslie is also doing OK, but he's outmatched by a strong Everett team (after one game it looks like it'll be an Everett sweep). The good news for him is Kelowna is hosting the Memorial Cup so he would get another crack at the hardware.

Re: Recruit Update
I watched Bulans play a couple weeks ago. That game, offensive zone, he was in the slot between the hash marks almost as much as he was at the blueline.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2026 9:28 am You can watch the WHL playoffs on Canada's Victory +. I sit down to watch Chicoutimi-Moncton in the Q final and see Moncton is up 3-0. Then 4-0. Yeah, this one's over so I flip over to the Walleye game.
Peteris Bulans, BG commit for this upcoming fall, erupts for 3g/1a to lead Chicoutimi to a 7-6 win and a 3-2 lead in the series.

Re: Recruit Update
Anything change with Leslie? Notice he is not listed as coming in on Elite Prospects anymore, and don't see him on any of the recruitment websites as being committed to us.
Bring back the glory!

He’s coming as of 10 days ago. First game of the Memorial Cup is tonight and the coaching staff moved him from defense to forward against Kitchner.

Tonight it’s Kelowna (Leslie) vs. Chicoutimi (Bulans) at 9p on NHL and Victory+. Both teams lost their first games.

Is Campbell coming? I have him as a decommit.

Hmmm. Interesting comment from Terry as he and I reconciled our separate depth charts with a little guidance from Curtis and Willy. I'm surprised he still has Campbell on his list, I thought we'd reconciled that. With that said, here's what I think I know:pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 8:37 pmUnless he's referring to someone else?

1) Roster size next year is 28 which includes 2 DSAs which is why it isn't 26
2) There is one defensive commitment that has not been announced and is pending completion of the Memorial Cup - PDT is betting it all on Dupont
3) There are two potential commitments working through the NCAA clearing house which one could conclude are coming from the pro ranks, most likely forwards
That's 3 spots accounted for with 25 to go.
4) There are 14 known forwards at the moment: 3 Sr - Waters, Doran, Hotson, 3 Jr - Martin, Zlinka, Patton (USports), 6 So - Minville, Sloan, Morneau, Whynott, Levis, Rymon with Scott leaving, and 2 Fr - Verdon and Soto with Pfoh, Coughlin, McCue, and Spring decommitting. That gets us to 17 with 11 to go.
5) There are 3 goalies, Steinman, Palmer, and Michaluk with Moore heading out. That gets us to 20 with 8 to go.
6) There are 5 known defensemen at the moment (not including incoming freshmen, see #7): 2 Sr - McKinley, Bushy, 1 Jr - Korodiuk, and 2 So - Crampton and Higgins. That gets us to 25 with 3 to go.
7) As of the 3-star event on May 13, Mazden Leslie and Peteris Bulans were both go's. That gets us to 27 with 1 to go.
8) At this point, assuming #1-3 is accurate, there's only one spot left. I have that going to Cooper Wilson with Campbell as being a decommit. Terry must have Wilson as the decommit.
In my analysis it comes down to #8 with the open question being Wilson vs. Campbell...UNLESS...the player to be named in #2 is in fact Campbell. That would fit the fact pattern but would crush PDTs hopes of landing the white whale that is Landon Dupont.
Not sure this is the best way to show my work, hopefully everyone can follow along here.

Re: Recruit Update
I'm thinking #3 is going to be academic, a la Higgins, as you have your numbers accounted for, and none of the guys seem to have pro experience. Possible Kalto is one, being only one season in NA?TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2026 7:26 pm

Someone announcing after the Memorial Cup hints at an underager that might be afraid of meaningful playing time being cut (Campbell fits this).
I'm wondering if the log-jam with forward commitments was the expectation that some forwards were not coming back?
