How are summer practices going?
I'm just curious to see if anyone has had the chance to watch any of the summer practices? I'm really curious to know how the battle between Spratt and everyone's favorite Limey netminder is going!
Any insights would be much appreciated.

Are practices closed? Maybe we could have an insider clue us in?
Check out our new BGSU hockey site: http://www.bgsuhockey.com
As far as I know, there are no "official" summer practices. I believe the coaches are not allowed on ice instruction until two weeks prior to the official start of the season. Some players stay around BG and work out at the university, but many go home for the summer and work out there.
Somebody else might be able to confirm or counterdict this, but that's what I remember from the past.

The "practices" are run by the athletes themselves. They're open to anyone who wants to watch and are usually later in the evening around 10:00 pm or so. The goalies, to me, seem to be pretty equal right now but that's just me. Matsumoto has been lighting all of them up equally. Matsu has lost about 30 pounds and is just flying up and down the ice. He will be a huge force to reckin with this year.
Coaches can't be involved until September (I believe) and then only dry lands. On ice coaches practices start a couple of weeks prior to the start of the season. This is due, supposedly, to the length of the season compared to other sports.

If you check the schedule for ice times at the arena, you will see when they are having their "practices." This week the BGSU Hockey camp is going on so the guys are on the ice after the last hockey camp ice time, which is 8:30. Here is the online schedule:BGDrew wrote:Are practices closed? Come and watch them play. The fun part is figuring out who they are, because they DON'T wear their BG jerseys!! Usually it's "dark" sweaters against "other" colors.
And I don't think Matsumoto is giving it his "all" out there....not even close!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
