Yet gorrillas and chimpanzees have exceptionally long arms and are also incredible strong. So then the key is to either be stubby, or a knuckle dragger. Either way nature is against the normal person.Flipper wrote:
Those little fellers with the stubby arms are biomechanically better suited to bench than normal sized people like me with normal length arms. They're not strong, nature is helping them cheat!

Re: Pretty good game....

For those that are curious, the scoring breaks down like this:
Pilkington: 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 pts.
Matsumoto: 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 pts.
Whitmore: 2 goals and 0 assists for 2 pts.
Nesdill: 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 pts.
Foster: 0 goals and 2 assists for 2 pts.
Svendson: 0 goals and 2 assists for 2 pts.
Unger: 1 goal and 0 assists for 1 pt.
Barnett: 1 goal and 0 assists for 1 pt.
Meloche: 0 goals and 1 assist for 1 pt.
Sitko: 0 goals and 1 assist for 1 pt.
Hodgson: 0 goals and 1 assist for 1 pt.
In all 11 players contributed to the scoring last night. Very balanced.
Note: None of these points count toward total point production in the regular season since this was an exhibition game. However it does suggest that we could see a lot of different players scoring on a regular basis this season!

I'd wager that 90+% (don't have an exact number) of those who are in Athletic Band are also involved in some manner with the Marching Band (marching, truck crew, and what not). It's not so much a lack of musicians, as it is a lack of musicians who are willing to play in a pep band. Marching band eats up a HUGE chunck of time. Not just in rehearsal, but also in all of the prep time that goes into preparing for rehearsal. You don't expect the Hockey team to play a game without practicing do you? The band is the same thing. I agree that there should be a band at every major sporting event, pep rally, and school spirit related activity on campus, however that just isn't practical. If you would like to see more of the band at hockey games, contact Dr. Carol Hayward. Her e-mai is chaywar@bgnet.... She is very responsive to feed back regarding the bands. However, just as a fair warning, you will proably get a similar response.Falcon Fanatic wrote:We never have a pep band at hockey until after football is over.goofyeuph wrote:If memory serves...typically early to mid Nov. (Another topic I could rant on and on about....the lack of a pep band at ANY hockey game, that is!)

Yes, but I'm sure that the more feedback she gets, the more initiative she will take to fix the problem!goofyeuph wrote: However, just as a fair warning, you will proably get a similar response.
We have a very good, and very large College of Music at BGSU. Perhaps we can get a dedicated hockey pep band, kind of like what the 'Goons up in Ann Arbor have? If that were the case, we wouldn't have a situation like we did last year in the first round of the playoffs when we were scrambling to get alumni together because the pep band was in Cleveland for the MAC Tourney...

There is a large porition of the CMA who look down upon both the FMB and the Athletic Bands. Actually only about half of band are music majors, which is actually a high percentage when you look at similar programs nationally. Normally it's closer to a third.
Believe me, I understand, and agree with what you are saying. I'm just trying to offer a perspective of someone who has been in and around the program.
