I'm not sure what you mean by update. They replace the ice every summer and put down new lines, circles, logos, and ads then. If you mean the logo with the outline around it, I doubt that they'll ever do that in the ice arena. I just don't think that that would look right on the ice with all of the other lines and stuff.
Last year's center Falcon head had the words Bowling Green and Falcons around the outside of the circle surrounding it. Also, due to NCAA regulations, the goal line was moved back a few feet this summer. That is why we may have not had this problem in the past.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got." ~~USCHO Poster, AFTER Tech beat us #NeverGiveUp

Actually, they just removed a little bit of ice around where the whole was. They are trying to save the rest of the ice. Plan is to be open for the women's game tonight. The white paint is actually on about the second or third layer of ice. All the logos, lines, and circles are a layer or two above the white.
Someone mentioned seeing someone walking with a torch. The torch was used to melt the ice so they could get down to the concrete and get a good look at the whole.
Usually in a case like this with the brine system, only a small section of the ice will be removed to fix the pipe. To melt all the ice and then place in a new sheet would be ridiculous and would also mean terrible conditions for practice and the games next week.
