Sure would be nice if BG could get a new ice facility, the current has it's charm, but the newer rinks are attracting the better players.
Have you been there since the new boards have been put in? Big improvement. My guess is that, before long, some other improvements will be made.

We don't really need a new building....it's structurally sound. We need some renovations. Players may like new buildings but that's not all that attracts them. In recent years we've renovated the varsity locker room, added the new lounge and offices, replaced the boards, rebuilt one of the compressors (to improve the ice service), added better lighting, etc. More will follow. Given the feasability study and recent upgrades, the interest and dedication is there.

Miami's is nice, I'll give them that, but it still only sits 3500 or so. Ours sits 5000, and has been near capicity on several occasions recently. In the 80's it was near and over capacity nearly every game. I'll take that many people and that atmosphere in our older building than a new facility any day.

My brother played goalie at Niagara in 2000, he came to visit me for his b-day this past year on the weekend Michigan was in town. At the time my brother played, Niagara had just built a new facility like miami's except it was just a little smaller. He said that he would have much rather played games in a place like our night in and night out becuase it was absolutley electric in there that night when we beat them. He also said that he would rather practice on a new facility though.
