All games against Canadian teams are exhibition. This game also fell a lot later than usual....for whatever reason we're easing into our schedule this year as opposed to previous seasons. This, I think, is a very good thing since it will allow the team to gel more before getting into the NCAA season. Most of the other teams have already played either in a pre-season tourney or a regular season game (thus the 5 games already under Windsor's belt) while we've yet to play anything other than this exhibition.redhawk95 wrote:congrats on the win against windsor. was that an exhibition game or did that count in the standings? our win against them did not count as a regular season win but it was nice to get off on the right foot.
looking forward to playing you guys this year. i think we should pair the ohio teams together every year so we can do the real ohio cup. the new pod schedule has us paired with osu every year, but it would be nice for all three ohio teams to be a pod and we rotate another team in each year. bg has been tough on miami over the past few years, so i'm hoping we'll have a little more success this year. hopefully, i can make at least one of the games over the thanksgiving weekend.
go redhawks!
We talked to Siggy after the game and he stated that, basically, he was stone cold in that game. It's extremely tough to stay focused when you only see 14 shots in a game....he'd much rather see 30+ as it's much easier to stay hot. He also stated that he knows this goalie and that he was never able to make the jump to Junior A....he wasn't good enough. The parents sitting next to us also stated that they have NEVER seen him play as well as he did on Friday night. He got into a zone early and was able to, uncharacteristically, stay there. Mind you, we missed a lot of open nets, but 48 of those were on net....the score was not indicative of our play.
There was some sloppiness but that is easily corrected....in all I thought the passing was much better than previous years and will continue to improve as the players get used to each other.
Also, technically speaking, the season has not yet started as nothing about this game counts on the seaon. Score, statistics, nothing. The real season starts this Friday night.
