Like Erika, I am still speechless and mad.
To anyone that thinks that Richie will not be missed is blind.
He is the heart and soul of that team.
I would like to know what would drive a man like that off his team.
Knowing the kind of man that he is, we will never get the whole story.

I know that Richie had a bad wrist and he only played this past weekend because Pooch needed him. Neither Richie or James should have played, but team comes first.

What worries me most - who is next -and - what are "they" hearing about BGSU Hockey in Toronto, Penticton, and the USHL. This situation will affect recruiting for years to come.

As I have said before; BGSU and the City of Bowling Green knows good hockey and will not support a number 12 place team. The attendence at the Saturday game is listed as 1500, in an arena the used to regularly
have 4,000. Look around, see how many life long BG Hockey fans have reached their limit and can take no more. If something does not happen very soon, there will be no way to recover.
(1) Capital Developement needs to announce to the world what the plans are for the Arena (2) Sorry Pooch, but something is just not working, time for Danton to take over.

Richie if you read this, we love you man, we wish you only the best.

If this is true, I wish him all the best. As of right now, he's still listed on the official site's roster (Bales is not).

Just a thought… We have lost 8 straight games. The last game we won was Nov 4th. Rich Meloche scored the game winning goal that night.

The last win prior to Nov 4th, was Oct 20th vs. Providence and I believe Rich scored that game as well. Two out of our three wins this year came when Rich scored—so I have to ask myself, why isn’t he on the ice more? Can’t score if you’re not on the ice. It looks like coach has abused an asset when he could have been using it.

My wife and I have been going to the games for the past several years with our two boys and have made several of the out of town games. Rich is the type of player that has always been great to his fans. Whether the team wins or loses, he has always taken the time to talk to the fans. He has signed my boys’ sticks, talks to them like young men (not children) and always gives them the “high five” before stepping on the ice.

I will miss seeing this guy in the BG uniform. He had a way of firing up the crowd.

Good luck in all you do Rich!

I agree with everything you said. Rich Meloche is a total class act, and so are his parents. This loss will be felt deeper than hockey because of the kind of person he is. I wish Rich all the luck in the world, God knows, he's earned it!!!

I cannot begin to put into words, my feelings about BG Hockey right now.... :smt010

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Just to clear things up for people, Richie is a very close friend of mine so I know what is going on. He did not graduate in the spring last year, that was brony. He will graduate at Christmas. He is also not drafted. Its sad to see a guy like Richie being ran off the team becuase that is what happened. The people who know Richie know that he gives it his all, but there is only so much a guy can take. I talked to him after a game earlier in the season and he was furious, becuase he scored a goal and then was benched for the rest of the game. (must have been a bad goal) Mind games, mind games, mind games. He is a leader on this team and should have been captain.

There is a reason why when the players are able to get away from Paluch they do at first second. I know all of you think Dobek was part of the terrible senior class of last year but this is the same situation. Both players wanted to get away from this man as soon as possible. I am gald that Richie left before his sense of fun for the game of hockey was completely sucked out of him.

I don't speak for anyone other than myself, but I think if you asked around and didn't jump to conclusions, you would find out that The Sentinel is actually right about this one. As much as it pains me to say that as I haven't read an article in 5+ years. Meloche has had a wrist injury for some time. If I'm not mistaken, he missed the games at ND because of it. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will tell me.

Just because the Sentinel said one thing and there is another issue there (Rich leaving the team) doesn't mean that either one isn't true.

Go Falcons!

Acutally, both are true. Rich injured his wrist right before the ND games, and didn't play. So, yes he is injured still, but played last weekend.

But it is also true that Rich is graduating and QUIT the team. It is also true that he is/was one of the hardest workers on this team and the team will surely miss him, as well as all of us fans. Rich knows the meaning of hustle out on that ice no matter what anyone says! Good Luck Richie! YOU WILL BE MISSED!

Our current situation aside, unless we were ranked and in contention for a CCHA title or possible NCAA berth, I would never begrudge one of our players from moving on.

Here's a kid who's played well for us, has gotten his education, and probably has some opportunties as a free agent.

Good Luck and thanks for being a Falcon.

Bingo!! That is exactly what happened!! And after having a long heartfelt talk with him tonight, he wants people to know that he does not blame the coaches, the team or the current record for any decision he has personally made to benefit his career. He's a tremendous young man and I am honored to have had the opportunity to get to know him. Falcon Hockey was very lucky to have him for 3 and a half years. Now the Pensacola Pilots are going to be the lucky ones!!!

GOOD LUCK, RICHIE, AND THANKS FOR ALL YOU DID FOR FALCON HOCKEY!!!
YOU DESERVE ALL THE SUCCESS IN THE WORLD!!!!

Is Kevin Gordon still the writer for the Sentinel Tribune?

Kind of funny if Paluch just fed him a line about Meloche being out with a wrist injury and not saying anything about him quiting. Not that I especially like Gordon, but that would be another bridge burned.

Another Falcon goes Pro. Good work Rich.

This guy can score goals, and Paluch rarely played him. Even when we had a hard time scoring. Good job Pooch, maybe Ron is looking for an assistant coach next year!!!

Good luck Meloche, you deserve it!!!!!

He is going to the ECHL with the Pensacola Ice Pilots. From what I have heard, he is leaving right after exam week.
