Those responsible should be kicked off the team permanently.
This is just not acceptable. At all.

surfaces
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Seven Bowling Green hockey players
have been suspended indefinitely today, a day after a newspaper
showed their coach a photo of a nude player whose skin was
decorated with profanity.
Coach Scott Paluch says players Ryan Barnett, Steve Brudzewski,
Bryan Dobek, Mike Falk, Don Morrison, Brett Pilkington and Alex
Rogosheske were suspended for violating team policy.
Paluch and athletic director Paul Krebs declined to discuss the
photo at a news conference announcing the suspensions.
The Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune newspaper reported that
yesterday it received a photo showing a Bowling Green hockey player
face down, with profanity and racial slurs scrawled in colored
marker across his body. He appeared to be unconscious.

Not much different, but here's the Mercury Article...

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Seven Bowling Green hockey players were suspended indefinitely Tuesday, a day after a newspaper showed their coach a photo of a nude player whose skin was decorated with profanity.
Coach Scott Paluch said players Ryan Barnett, Steve Brudzewski, Bryan Dobek, Mike Falk, Don Morrison, Brett Pilkington and Alex Rogosheske were suspended for violating team policy.
Paluch and athletic director Paul Krebs declined to discuss the photo at a news conference announcing the suspensions.
The Sentinel-Tribune newspaper reported that it received a photo Monday showing a Bowling Green hockey player face down, with profanity and racial slurs scrawled in colored marker across his body. He appeared to be unconscious.
The envelope containing the photo had a Canadian postmark but no return address.
The newspaper said it showed Paluch the photo. It wasn't immediately clear where or when the photo was taken.
The photo showed eight men, at least five of whom are current players, the newspaper said.
"It's unacceptable. We'll get to the bottom of it," Paluch told the Sentinel-Tribune for a story Tuesday.
The Falcons have won their only two games this season. Their next game is Friday night at home against Lake Superior State.

It'll be tough, but I'm sure Scott will get to the bottom of this and do the right thing. Absolutely ridiculous

I saw this on the wire while laying out the sports page tonight...figured no one else would know about it so I was hoping to post first! But yeah, everything on here is all that has been mentioned in any news form. The first AP article was a shortened one in case someone wanted to run it as a brief.
The kid on the floor appeared unconcious or whatever so I am wondering it they were all just having a "normal night in BG." People get wasted and do stupid stuff, no one can help it. How someone in Canada got ahold of the photo and emailed it we will never know. This sucks IMO though...7 players are 7 players and the teams needs all we have!!!

"To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the project manager, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be."
God knows I've done plenty of stupid stuff, said stupid things, made jokes I probably shouldn't have made, and even though this apparently a University sponsored event (poor choice of words, I meant its not like they vandalized a building during a weekend roadtrip to play games), there is still the responsibility to represent the University. The photo doesn't cause a problem with me, nor do most of the words apparently on him, its the racial slurs part. THAT is what will cause the University a very hefty black eye, and is what needs to be dealt with most severely. Maybe something will come out where it was one or two guys doing the writing and the others just posed for a picture, who knows. Until that time, I hope (and expect) everyone involved to be suspended indefinitely, and those who are found to have taken part in more than just smiling for the camera to have scholarships revoked and kicked off the team.McMetz811 wrote: The kid on the floor appeared unconcious or whatever so I am wondering it they were all just having a "normal night in BG." What's even more sad is that two of the players named were captains, and another is the son of a Falcon icer. For them to not realize the proud tradition of Falcon hockey that they put on the line with some drunken stupidity is inexcusable.
As for how the pictures got to Canada, I don't know what to assume. First thought was that someone's parents saw it and were shocked enough to act. Then I wondered if someone who didn't make the team, or left the team (not knowing the hockey team well enough, I don't know if this has been the case), and had a grudge against some of the guys sent it in. The curious part is that it was sent to the Sentinel-Tribune, not to the hockey office. Another thought I had is that knowing alot of guys on different teams likely know one another "back home", I wonder if the picture got passed around as a joke and ended up in the hands of a rival, who saw the opportunity to embarrass the program. All I think are distinct possibilities, though HOW the picture got there isn't as important right now as WHY the picture happened.
I was just saying it was possible they were drunk. This is not a proven fact and I don't want to bring up any false information here. People in my line of work get fired for writing false facts like that so I just wanted to make that point clearFor them to not realize the proud tradition of Falcon hockey that they put on the line with some drunken stupidity is inexcusable.

no problem, the drunk thing was my own thought. Actually, if they WEREN'T drunk, it almost makes it that much more disgusting.McMetz811 wrote: I was just saying it was possible they were drunk. Don't worry though, if you get caught bringing up false information, you could always work for '60 Minutes'. </politics>

Only one was a captain (Sigalet and Minnebarriet were not suspended) and never in a million years would I have expected Dobek, Bru, or Rogo to be included in this. I really had no idea who the players would be until I read it on here this morning. This just makes me sick.TG1996 wrote:What's even more sad is that two of the players named were captains, and another is the son of a Falcon icer. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
